Last night I used the Q-clean kit to clean all my cues.

In passing I made the comment that I hated storing cue shafts point DOWN in my case because the weight of the shaft was on the tip and had to have a flattening effect long term. I hated worse storing them tip UP because I get chalk on my hands extracting them.

Well lo and behold Mrs LWW takes some of the old billiard cloth...

...and now this can be...

...combined with this...

...and this is the result.

there is nothing wrong with storing a shaft with the tip down, it'll take years of no use before anything might happen to it and by that time the tip will be too dry anyway, the tip gets flatten more from hitting the cue ball, are you going to switch to aramith super cotton balls now :?:

Before I put my shafts back in my case, tip down btw, I always touch it to the carpet on the floor, and give it a light twist. Pretty much removes the loose chalk.

I do the same thing but I do it on the table cloth under the rail (at pool halls) or I use a paper towel or even just a bar napkin
