View Full Version : predator spw weight bolt and balance point questions
is the predator spw weight bolt embedded deeper like viking cues or not? where is it located? cuz the rosewood seems like a heavy wood and this will make it rear balance. so how does this apply to the predator spw cue with the rosewood butt?
also will turning down the shaft to 12.5mm from 12.75mm affect the balance point greatly or not?
i'm planning on getting an 18oz and will try turning down the shaft to 12.5mm and im afraid that if the 18oz pred spw a forward balance cue (w/c is 18" balance point from the bottom bumper that my firend has) then by turning down the shaft this will make it rear balance cuz this will move the balance point like maybe around 17.5" or 17.75" from the bottom bumper.
so, if the weight bolt is located further near the joint then shifting the BP will not feel too rear balance, right? since i think a 17.5" to 17.75" is not that bad for a balance point.

Man you worry too much , I doubt that just by turning your shaft down by .25mm would remove that much weight from the shaft to change your balance point by 1/4 ". The whole shaft itself is only 4 oz or less .
I own a Viking cue with 2 Predator shafts. The first one is 3.8 oz (12.75mm) while the second one is 3.4 oz (12.5mm) the balance point of the first one is 18 1/16" while the second shaft is 17 6/8" BL. Both feels forward balanced but i can feel the difference and that's about a 1/4" balance point difference. I guess he has a point.

Great, put more wax on your shaft then. How in the world did you take .4 oz. on .25mm of wood?
If the cue shoots straight and your stroke is straight, does 1/4 of an inch off a balance-point matter? I don't even know how one distinguishes a quarter of an oz. of weight.

Please don't argue with me and read what I wrote. That's what it says on the scale. I'm just giving my feedback here. BTW, I know it doesn't matter if the cue shoots straight but YOU ARE missimg the whole point of my thread. My point is that "I" and not "you" can feel the difference.

Hmn, if 1/4 of an oz. taken off the shaft concerns anyone, take it to a local cuemaker and have him add it to the shaft near the joint. Some powdered tungsten mixed with glue should do the trick. It'll also "forward" the balance.
Then again, if 1/4 oz. concerns you, you probably can't play anyway. :D

i'm not talking to myself. i just want to know if taking down Pred shaft down to 12.5 would affect the balance point.

Shaft reduction would alter the balance point - minutely. But dunno' if you would feel it. You'll need to just try it and see.

would it be noticeable enough to prevent me from becoming a world champien? moving the balance point half a inch might really bug me.

You are the most STUPID poster in this forum. no one is questioning whether it would affect your playing ability or not . The question is basically SIMPLE. That is "IF" the "balance point" will "move" OR "not"?
BTW, what the Fck is a world "champIEn"?
LOL LOL LOL
well, that was fun. but, all good thing must come to an end.
