What is best way to trim new cushion rubber?

I have glued new cushions onto my rails, however I have found it difficult to cut the rubber with my linoleum knife, even when dipped in soapy water. Any suggestions?

I have a skinny kitchen knife with the jagged edge that works best for me. It is the kind that supposedly never needs sharpening.

Second choice is a hack saw.

Slow and easy will make the cut. If you screw up any, a small dremmel with a sanding drum on it will easily shape it back to the desired angle.
