View Full Version : Antique Table Inquiry

I have a question for all listening.
I have an 8' antique table with a Tag that reads, "Marvel Billiard and Bowling Supply Co. Chicago, IL. Perfection Cushions".

I have been trying to place the table with a manufacturer, and have not been able to. It is a "Boat Belly" type, and has a unique ball return system, that does not resemble the two listed on Brunswick's website.

There is a serial number 38820, which the installers told me was a date stamp, perhaps meaning 08-20-1938. THis stamp is on each item including pocket leather.

I would say the table most resembles the Brunswick Newport, but without the decrotice trim on the bottom of the Cabinet.

Three piece slate 1-1/2" thick, leather pockets with an american "shield" stamped into the back of them.

If anyone has any clue as to who the maker may have been, please help.

The table came out of the Burdick Hotel Pool room (Kalamazoo, MI) in 1949, and has been in the family since then.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Drew

My guess is that it is a brunswick talble. Back in the old days, when a business would come and recover a table, they might pop out the brunswick name plate and put in their own so the people know who to call for the next recover.

Brunswick has the serial numbers on all the rails and most parts of the table. Problem is all the records were lost in a fire a long time ago so the numbers don't really mean that much anymore.

Check out this link to upload pics. There is some breif instructions there. Once you get the pic uploaded we can help from there.

Sid is right..If I am not mistaken Saunier Wilhem Company tagged several Brunswicks, especially in the South, to get the maintenance. Wilhem stills sells Brunswicks here in Alabama. As far as the Pic here, I really don't have the answer to your question....someone will sooner or later..mike

Just stumbled across your post, did you ever figure anything out? I have a wendt but I cant see your pics to see any similarities. Try sending a pic to Karen at A.E. Schmidt, she was nice enough to ID my table. It is a Wendt Hollywood model. You can google it.
