You can definitely get a Predator shaft for a McDermott, although you may need some custom work to match it up, but Seyberts can do that for ya no prob..
As for the difference between 314 and Z. The Z has a much stronger taper, and is a good bit thinner. Because of it's design, it has a tad bit less deflection, as opposed to the 314. The 314 uses the Pro Taper, as opposed to the Z's Euro taper. So, the 314 is a thicker shaft. The only person who can tell you which is right for you, is you. It is 100% subjective.
As for tips.. Moori's are by far a better tip than a LePro. However, Talisman, Hercules, and a few others are great too.. I am currently using a Hercules (M), and will likely throw a Moori (M) on the next time around, just to see if there is a difference. But anything other than a LePro is good. LePro is not a bad tip itself, if you get a good one. Problem is, 1 out of 30 LePro's are good. But the good ones, are decent.. Just takes luck to get one..
I've not shot with a Z shaft, I own a 314.
I've heard numerous reports of warping with Z shafts.
I do love a 314 and think you would be happy with it. You might be with a Z also though.
