Nick, you really need to share some pics.. those pfd Studios cues are very very nice! 8)

My pfd Studios cue - Afican Olive forearm and butt sleeve, African Ebony handle. Over 90 individual inlays. Superb workmanship - it takes a magnifying glass to see any trace of a glue line. Razor sharp corners on the inlays.

Forearm - Ebony inlays, ivory joint collar, gold Uni-Loc joint.

Handle - Ivory and Olive inlays.

Butt - Ebony inlays, ivory butt cap.

How does it play? It feels great - much like my P2, but with a softer hit. Paul hit my weight and balance specs on the button. He is presently building me a twin of this cue, but replacing the Olive with blond Amboyna Burl.

Nick my friend, that is an absolutely beautiful looking cue! I am very impressed with the detail and workmanship.

You definitely have quite a nice cue collection! 8)

Every day I am learning more and more about the different cue makers. Just when I think I have seen the best looking cues, someone shows up with something better!

Nick, have you ever looked at cues make by Peter Tascarella? A cue from him would be a great addition to your collection.

No, I haven't considered a Tascarella, but he does make some great looking cues. After seeing the pics of Greg's beautiful Ebony & Ivory I've been lusting for a Chris Nitti cue.

I met Chris at the expo. Hes a great guy and pics of his cues dont do his work any justice. A Nitti would be a great addition to any collection. A Skip Weston or a Theirry Layani will probably be the next addition to the family after the DZ gets finished.

I'm supposed to go have dinner at my dads house tomorrow night. I will see if I can nab his fancy digital cam to take some good pics of my cue. Been meaning to do so for some time now, just have not had a chance yet...

Greg - I'm not sure that I'm ready for a Chris Nitti thread with pics of your ebony & ivory cue. It'll probably push me over the edge and I'll have to break out the checkbook!

I was pushing him for pics the other night so he posted the ones that he had done with his camera. If he gets new and better ones we'll all be in trouble lol.

Whats the advantage of the gold uniloc?
The biggest advantage is that it puts a smile on my face every time I assemble or break down the cue.

Pride of ownership! It's more than just the money. It makes a player strive to be worthy of the hardware they take to the table!

Ah I know how that goes. Whatever floats your boat is fine with me.

Peter Tascarella used to work for/with George Balabushka, he is considered as the #1 expert on Balabushka cues and he is the best man to go to if you need to authenticate a Balabushka cue, You can see in his work that he has kept the Balabushka legacy of fine craftsmanship.

Here is a fine example of his cues (very similar to the Balabushka cues )

Errr, how much does a cue like this cost? (sorry, for the tactlessness of the question, but I MUST KNOW.)

spartan

i bet that cue will cost around $3000-$3500 from him. my friend has one similar that is 20 years old and he paid $1900. I know another guy who has a plain one just a birdseye maple forearm and a leather wrap that cost $2000 and its 2 years old. there dont come cheap.

Is that the cost of PFD Studio cue?

I'd guess PFD's go anywhere from 3k 10 15k for some of them..

PFD's are VERY expensive from what Ive seen. But from what Ive seen, they are worth it.

Sorry but IMHO NO cue is worth $15K as a cue itself. As a collectible antique possibly.

Built by Herman Rambow for Willie Mosconi to gift to Jackie Gleason.
I'd give a lot more that $15K for this cue!

Is the Gleason cue still owned by his estate :?: :?: :?:

DEATHTRON

No it is not. It is owned by the son of one of Gleasons former "girlfriends". It retails for $40,000.

Does anyone know if that cue was actually used by Jackie Gleason for his
scenes at the pool table when filming The Hustler :?: :?: :?:

DEATHTRON

I do not believe so. If I remember right, it was given to him after the shooting of the movie, for the success of the movie.
