i wish to buy a predaetor. but i nee a butt with a soft joint. i do not like the spwu because there are no collars. i dont like designs from viking and mcdermott because they are really fake.

i saw action elite ep02? it has a sp38 joint(imitates radial joint) which i tried to fit a 314 on it, seems pretty tight.

can the action elite ep02 fit a radial 314?

any other cue butt to recommend? total budget for cue is 300-400usd.
i was looking at the mezz zzsp also but it comes with a metal joint.

Really fake?? I am not sure I follow the meaning of this? Care to explain?

btw, I have a radial pin joint cue myself, and it is not so much what I would call a soft hit.. I'd say it is the closest thing to a one piece cue feel, but not soft. I had a Viking with a wood to implex joint, and it was much softer than my current radial pin joint, although not nearly as natural feeling...

I would definitely recommend a Radial Pin joint if you like the hit of one. But I still do not understand the whole fake thing?

I think he might mean really fake as in non-traditional.

yep. their designs are really loud, not my kind. i mean no offence. peace
anyway if i use a 314with a black collar on a spwu. will they align perfectly?

one more thing, i dont undertsand why big companies like joss and schon doesnt have any wood to wood cues, except their sneaky petes.

Yeah, they do have some pretty wild crazy looking cues, I dont care for those either.. But they also have very plain, and some very clean cues..

My new Viking F97 is very plain looking. There is nothing extravagant about it. Check it out...

Just remember, you can customize the Viking cues. That is what I did. Have them make it the way you want it.

Not really... Besides, soft tips mushroom too fast and need more maintenance.

compare spwu with 314 and p2 with 314 . will both hit the same?

having both, i like the p2 better. the hit is a little more solid. it has a soft hit as well.

I have a McDermott and it's anything but this "loud" you speak of......

I've got a McDermott that I purchased in the early 90s. It's the MG-5 but with an 8 ball on the butt. Recently swithed to the 314 implex to implex and it plays great! I'm using the standard tip that the 314s come with and have had no problems with it.
It took me less than an hour of play to re-teach myself not to compensate as much for "squirt". Most of my shots are soft enough for it not to matter so much anyway.
The biggest adjustment I had to make was to get used to how much more english I get off of it.
I still use my the shaft that came with my cue on extremely slow tables though.

The tip, whether soft or hard will affect the feel of the hit much more than the joint. That's my 2¢ worth.
