I wouldn't buy a cue that was used as a break cue, you don't know the abuse that the sgaft has been under and although it may look in good condition on the outside, you can't tell what's going on inside the wood of the shaft.
The red dot is a shaft that can take a lot of pressure, if you don't regard it as a shaft that cuts cue ball deflection a lot and you like a whippy shaft then you'll love it, I will offer him $100 - $150 just because it was a break cue.

Correction... New Meucci's are junk... The old ones were very nice cues, but that has since changed.

250 for a break cue, does sound a bit high to me. I'd rather not risk it, especially when a brand new Viking, McDermott, etc. could be had for that or less.

he could of broke like hohmann or bustamante with it where they dig the cue into the table making it bend who knows what kind of abuse that thing has taken? a power piston is a new meucci greg which makes it junk. i have shot with a 20 year old meicci and i loved the way it plays as i know you like your fathers meucci. its a shame to see the work they do now.

no he used it also as a breaking cue , he also shot with it and pushes it into the table when he breaks.

It depends on the model. At $250 you would be getting a steal on an 95-31 (the Olympian) and getting ripped off on a HiPro.

I gave this some thought and kind of come up with a generalized formula for estimating the price of a cue from a high volume production cue manufacturer.

Brand new cue: 75% of retail. Most dealers will advertise at 80% and you can do that at most any pool hall or billiards supply store. Be prepared to dicker and expect better if doing business on line.

Used cue: 40% of retail. And that is if it is in very good condition. If it is like new condition add a few bucks. If it is in good or less than good condition subtract a few bucks accordingly.

If the cue is old you may need to compare it to a similar model of a more recent product line to determine the value.

An old(er) cue may have some collector's value.

I wouldn't pay $250 for it, but I might pay $100-$150 for it. I would most likely put a 314 shaft on it once I got it. I would scrap the shaft on it, especially if it was used for breaking.
