If i wanted to buy a new cue at a range of $100- $200, wich would be the best for the buck, cuetec or viking. I have heard that viking holds up pretty well but I have also heard that they are getting worse. Please reply with info. or advice.

Personaly I like wood shafts with no coating on them so Cuetec is out, but some people really do like the hit and feel of the cuetec shaft, so I guess that you're going to have to try it and see if you like it or not.

As for the Viking vs. Mcdermott, I like the feel and hit of the Viking over the Mcdermott, but again this is a personal preference and you'll have to try them.

What are you playing with at the moment ?
For how long have you been shooting pool ?

If the answers are: 1. I do not own a cue and I use a house cue 2. not very long, then you can go with any of the cues and get used to the feel and hit quite fast, OR you should just save a bit more and get a Predator

the excaliber is made in the same company that makes cuetec, it's the same cue with different logo.

Do you like how your cue plays?, do you like the stiffness of the shat?, what would you like to change in your cue?

If you have answers to these questions then maybe we could give you a better advice

Viking feels more solid then a Mcdermott and the Viking shaft is stiffer the the Mcdermott shaft (the regular shaft, I don't know about the I-Series)
Most Viking cues have an implex to implex joint that gives a semi-hard hit but you can order the cue with any of the joint type that viking offer, most Mcdermott cues come with a 314 3/8 X 10 pin that goes streight in to the wood on the shaft without a metal insert and joint is wood to wood with phenolic rings that gives a more soft hit then the Viking.

If you've been playing for 3 years and for the most of them, you played with a graphite excaliber then I think that you'll be more comforable with the Viking and maybe later you can move to a more flexible shaft (if you want too).
Predator 314 shaft is more flexible then the Viking shaft so if you thought on this option then this is something that you'll need to consider
