View Full Version : What are Predator's patents?
The 5-inch hole in the shaft and what else? The ferrule?
Thanks.

Predator has patent# 5725437 for the ferrule. and patent# 6162128 for the internal boring of the shaft. I believe you can get the specifics at the U.S. Patent's office if you need them. :)

hmm I find it strange that you can patent a hole. Probably not the boring of the hole but the purpose of having the the hole is what you guys have patented
Neils isnt it that Ray Schuler was about to come out with a shaft that has lower deflection than Predator. It had a 1/4 inch ferrule but is bored out as well a few inches but stopped production since you guys are contesting that there was patent infringement ? Has this been settled already ?

We have been in touch with Ray since we found out Mike Massey was going around advertising a cue with similar boring in the shaft. To our knowledge he is no longer doing that process due to the patent that we have.

Neil, can you tell me a little bit about the tip that comes standard on a Predator cue? LePro, correct? I am a long time LePro user that switched to Talisman Pro Medium a while ago and never looked back. Does Predator suggest LePro, or believe LePro to be the best tip one can put on the Predator shaft? If so, why? Thanks in advance..I finally got a Predator cue a couple months ago and have not been shooting well since replacing the tip with a Talisman Medium. Of course, I can't blame myself so I am trying to find something to blame it on.

Our standard tip is a LePro on everything except the Break cue. If we used a layered tip like the Talisman or a Moori, the cost of the shaft would increase dramatically. Not to mention that not everyone prefers or sees the value in a layered tip.
We use an extremely hard layered tip on our Break cue since it is more durable, holds it's shape better and requires less maintenance overall. Also, when a ferrule cracks when you are using a power break, the tip fails first, causing the ferrule to crack.

I saw Neil playing this one guy on the front table of Rack -N-Cue one night. It was around closing and everyone was gathered around the table watching.
BTW, What happened to your Padgett cue Neil? I thought I remember you giving a business card to this guy and it had Arthur(sp) Padgett on it and not Tim. I may be mistaken tho since I was busy playing. Those were nice cues too.

Neil left his Meucci in his car one time. When he came back, there were two of them.
I was jostlin' about the Busta match. Neil broke and made a ball but had no shot after. He did not want to push so he kicked but missed. Neil did not make a ball after that as Busta ran rack after rack.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO That cant be true !!! Neils with his Meucci could not have been beaten that bad . Remember its a MEUCCI we're speaking of here. The best cue in the world ! :P
Neils , speak up and tell us this is not true
Sorry it took me so long to respond, I only check this forum while at work
Bustamante put a hurtin' on me at Hard Times in Sacramento!! He beat me 9-2 and I only got 4 shots, 2 of them I actually ran out. The other 2, he did not make a ball on the break and hooked me, the worst situation for the lesser player. Pushing out against someone who can make balls better than you and play safes better than you is not a winning situation, so I fired at it, hahaha!
I think I may have hit balls with maybe 1 Meucci, but never owned one. So contrary to popular belief( and to those trying to get me in trouble ), I do NOT play with a Meucci.
Glad to see that I have such a loyal following, thanks guys!!

Ha ha. Just playin with you Neils  Next time you play Busta use the black dot, the lowest deflection shaft from the guru Bob Meucci !! Guru -> yah right HA HA HA . NOOOOOT !!!!!
One day I hope Iron willie and the Myth destroyer of Meucci can be modified so that they can play each other 1 on 1. Trash talk while their at it and regardless of who wins , end up in a stick fight ha ha ha .

I wonder why Bob would create the Black Dot. He said before his Red Dot had almost ZERO deflection. Does Black Dot have NEGATIVE deflection? :P
Hey Neils, when you come by Socal for vacation or hustlin', take some 314's with you. The whole Filipino gangs here are goin' 314'sh including Lori and Alex.

I didn't know you were back in Cali, what happened to Hawaii?
I have no idea what he is thinking, but it is pretty interesting what he claims.
Might be going back to Cali soon, if I do, I will drop by Hard Times to snap off the tournament.

the thing is this , both of you have your test robots and you do test your shafts against other brand. People observe how your robot and they think that Iron willie is doing the test fairly which in the end prooves that
314 indeed have the lowest squirt. Then when do move over to Meucci's booth (ea the trade show), , they see the Myth destroyer do some squirt test against other shafts and the same observation (fairness.....) but the result is that the red dot has the least squirt. Its a case where either one or both of the robots are flawed to make the result favorable for its maker .As to which one or are both of these robots flawed is something those of us who seen both just cant figure out.
Regardless, still love my 314 though

Regardless of who's robot is flawed or not, the best testimonial is how many people believe in your product.
