I posed the following question to Annie Mayes, a former Top Ten WPBA professional player. She also endorsed Predator late in her career.

Since you are a former professional player, what are your recommendations for cleaning and maintaining a Predator 314 shaft or one of your E-shafts? I currently use a combination of murphy's oil soap (wood cleaner) and water mixed together in a spray bottle. I spray this onto a rag and then wipe my shafts off with it. After wiping them down, I immediately dry them off. It seems to work great. I really don't like putting all that other stuff on my cues.

It sounds like your solution (no pun intended) is a good one. I simply recommend that every time you wash your hands, use the paper towel you dried them with to wipe down your cue, then use a dry paper towel to dry it. I strongly recommend against using any abrasive on your cue or shaft.
