Hey everyone, I'm a new user, just looking around the chit chat forum and saw cars, mainly under my friend deathtron's topics, thought all you ford types would get a kick out of this- I saw a sign the other day at Fuddrucker's that said "Camaro- 30 years and still going strong"

lol... I wont even go there...

Yes I will:

GM > *

To each his own, I have owned at least one car from all the above manufacturers. They all served me as well as I served them. If I took care of it, it did me well. With the exception of my 3 DSM's.. They suck!!!

However, stock for stock performance wise/cost wise... The Camaro kicks all their butts!!! Rock on rocker!!!

12-15-2004, 10:17 AM
Yeah, I will give the Camaro the bank for the buck nod. It is hard to beat LS1 power for the money.

Why does Aggie sound familiar? Do you post on some automotive forums?

Aggie08
12-15-2004, 12:24 PM
I did post on one at some point, but that particular board was pretty much dominated by a very opinionated person who everyone sucked up to. It got old so i stopped going there

DEATHTRON
12-15-2004, 01:15 PM
The camaro has great bang for the buck, however, 03/04 cobra's own the bang for the buck world now adays. But ya, i could see how DSM's suck, i heard their reliability is terrible.

Hey, how does the 03-04 Cobra take bang for the buck over an LS1 Camaro?

DEATHTRON
12-15-2004, 09:14 PM
For 60 hp, all you add is intake which is couple hundred, and pulle, which is about 80. so for about 280 you had 60hp. It takes to other mods just as well. Any car that packs forced induction of some sort normally has a better bang for the buck, but since the cobra has a few extra things (forged internals, a good fuel setup, a beefy enough rear end..etc) it makes it better. Dont get me wrong, ls1's are to be feared, but the 03/04 cobra's has just the extra little bit that make up for its rather "small" displacement.

Deb
12-15-2004, 10:18 PM
If this was a talk about moddin up the engine of a 4-wheeler (quads) or even a dirt bike...I would have a slight clue of what ya all are talkin about :)

DZ314
12-15-2004, 11:41 PM
Zach, the problem is those Cobras cost more than the Camaro. Also, we need to stick with stock when comparing for bang for the buck otherwise mods can really confuse the issue. A lot of people do not modify their cars so that has to be taken into account.

DEATHTRON
12-16-2004, 01:58 AM
Well i was talking about bang fo the buck modding..if were talking from the get go, cant beat the srt-4. That thing has some balls for a tiny price tag, and it packs a turbo good for alot more.

Zach

DZ314
12-16-2004, 09:04 AM
Yeah it is tough to beat a 13 sec car for $20k.

Aggie08
12-17-2004, 03:29 PM
The SRT-4 is a great bang for the buck and gets faster every year, but I still can't shake the idea that it's a neon...

audiopro
12-17-2004, 03:53 PM
I'd rather maybe have an STI... :)

Aggie08
12-17-2004, 03:56 PM
Certainly looks more the roll than the srt-4... wouldnt mind the awd either. plus, i hear they can really move. i mean you see the stats and times but they say this is particularly vicious.

audiopro
12-17-2004, 04:23 PM
Typically down here most stock STI's are running high 12's low 13's... That is pretty awesome..

Indeed it is, however they will cost more cheddar to get one under your butt.

DEATHTRON
12-18-2004, 03:36 AM
Cost more than a cobra...for the price ill stick with american muscle. Though i do really like awd for the street, no use in having power that you cant put down stop light to stop light.

Zach

The STI performs as good as the 911 but cost a lot less, I think that I posted before that the STI is one of my favorite ;)

ha ha, I spanked a 911 a few months ago... ;)

Boy was that guy pissed, he had his girl in the car with him...

Aggie08
12-19-2004, 07:44 PM
Nice. What were you driving? The only way i can beat a 911 is if the guy doesnt know we're racing :D

Z/28 Camaro with a few mods.. ;)

skor
12-20-2004, 04:50 AM
you know, usually it's the driver and not the car, I'll bet that if you would be driving the 911 or an STI, no camero would beat you

DEATHTRON
12-20-2004, 05:41 PM
I dont know, if its a race from a roll i think Greg's car vs. the others listed stock will pound them into the ground. If i remember right, Greg's car is an automatic, in a roll on the highway all Greg needs to do is mash the gas and hold on for dear life. Greg's car is already more powerful than the others...I bet Deb could pilot Greg's car faster than Greg in a 911.

Zach

Deb
12-20-2004, 05:47 PM
I would just jump into the car and "hammer down" and keep on driving and not return the car back to Greg ;)

DEATHTRON

Haha...I bet Greg would love that...

do you have any concept pictures or articles or anything on the supposed new camaro?

audiopro
12-21-2004, 12:20 PM
If you hit camaroz28.com and check out the 5th Gen forum, there is some info. Some other info I have is from my a family member who works at GM servicing the machines that build the cars. They are currently in development for tooling those machines for a Zeta framed Camaro.

There are concept pics, but they are unofficial. Here are some pics, just keep in mind they are not directly from GM.

Yeah Skor, we knew what ya meant. Just wanted to give ya a hard time.. ;)

By the way, there were just two recalls for the Ford GT where Ford stated they must not be sold, or driven off the lot, or even started, until the recalls were fixed.. :(

Hell if I know...it's been ages since I seen that 1st movie..but I remember Mel..so wild and crazy...while Danny gets heart attack just to cover his back. Very funny and I must add that these movies have done a good job of continuing the Lethal Weapon.

DEATHTRON

The left is an artist remdition of what they think the new comaro might look like...so unfortunately, its just art work.

Zach

audiopro
12-22-2004, 09:32 PM
Exactly... However, if you're rich enough, you could have anything custom made, including a car that looks just like that one! If I was rich enough, I think I may just do that. :)

But since I am not, I will stick with the current f-body, and wait for something I like better to be made...

dags_lax
12-22-2004, 10:05 PM
A new Camaro that is reminiscent of the body style of the 60's? Cool! Ford seems to be having a lot of success with the new retro 60's look Mustang. Who knows? Maybe GM will take a cue from Ford. But still, if I had an extra $25,000 I think I would pop for restored 60's Mustang or Camero/Firebird.

DEATHTRON
12-22-2004, 10:10 PM
Ya, classic cars are fun...the turn more heads...

audiopro
12-22-2004, 10:21 PM
Yeah, I totally agree dags. If I could get 20k in financing I would buy a 500 beater car, and a late 60's Camaro to do a ground up resto on. I spent a couple years restoring cars for other people, would love to do one for myself...

As it is though, no bank will finance me for such. But they gladly will for a late model vehicle. So I have my 2001 Camaro Z/28, which in every aspect is superior, save nostalgia.

We are yet to see how well Ford does with the '05 retro Stang, but I hope it does well. I think the car is beautiful. While I think Chevy's counterpart is a better car, Ford has done a better job of catering and marketing to those who are able to buy a pony car. So hats off to them for that. I am just grateful they are keeping the classics alive, and hopefully GM will follow suit, make some changes, and give them some competition.
