Well, since you posted in the Predator forum I'll suggest that you get a Predator BK instead.

The sledge is a good break cue but I didn't like it for jumping. I've never tried the BK but the 314 works very well.

Interesting question. I liked the feel of the Sledghammer, but it deflected more than the BK and the taper is shorter, making it harder to follow through.

Combination jump/ break cues will either do one or the other well, never both. The dynamics needed for a jump cue are far different than what you want for a break cue.

I agree with Neil, my breaking has improved since I got my BK. Actually the first 2 breaks with this cue pocketed the 8 ball for consecutive wins for myself and a teammate. After that everyone on my team was sold. As for a jump cue, I have yet to see anyone jump really well with a combination cue.

Just my 2 cents worth.

How about changing bk tip & ferrule to sledge material. I have seen one in Amsterdam open this year. I know it will not be warranty if you do this.

It will not increase the speed of your break, and it will increase the amount of deflection the shaft produces. The linen phenolic ferrule/ tip combination is very heavy and does not flex like our ferrule.

A good compromise is to put a linen phenolic or some sort of jump tip on our break cue.

I put a bunjee jump tip on the predator break cue.
Wow . very well worth the money.

I break pretty good right now it is just hard to justify spending so much dough on an area of my game i feel confident in. If you had to compare on a scale of 1-10 using your cue for breaking & then using the BK or the sledge?

Id guess my cue would fall about a 7 or 8

And the BK would be a 9 or so

HOW ABOUT YOU GUYS?

What kind of tip does the BK come with? It says in the description that the tip and ferrule are specially designed, but when you click the pulldown to choose tip it says standard-LePro.

It is a tip made especially for us by Tiger Products. It is 8 layers of pig skin that have been chemically treated to be extremely hard, but still hold chalk.

Thank you for pointing out the issue about the drop down window, was that on www.predatorcues.com or www.seyberts.com?

It is here Neil: http://www.seyberts.com/cues/predator/cues/bk/index.htm

It does say "Standard - LePro" where you have to select a tip.

I wish I had known about that. I just ordered the Predator BK from Seyberts and had a phenolic tip put on. I thought it came with a LePro and I did not want a LePro.

You won't be disappointed with the phenolic tip, that is what I have used for the past year or so and I really like it.

I have one on my break cue and like it, though they aren't for everyone.

I guess you have a point there. However, I could have used the layered tip for awhile before spending $20 on the phenolic. As my five year old says "hakuna mattata" or life with no worries.

Very good when you can go spiritual with The Lion King.
