I played in a tournament last night. Got into the winners bracket but barely. My hands were shaking. Must be the cold I am having. Anyway, it was fun and stayed on to watch the others play and noted which ones to be wary of.

I did meet a lot of people. There were a lot I didn't expect to be there, doctors, lawyers, big business owners... very good players, too.

Any of you guys got into a tournament lately?

Yeah it is funny some of the people you see in pool halls you would not expect. We have a couple lawyers, one of which is actually an Assistant DA for the state of Florida. The other lawyer rides in on his Harley...

Besides the regular APA season I dont compete in any tournaments to often. Every now and then I do, but not a regular...

Well, Zach, sooner or later you'll be one of the experienced players. :D

I heard last night that there's a tournament in one of the pool halls here every Wednesday night. Maybe I'll check on that.

Weekly tournamets are a good way to "scout" other players around your area. Maybe someday ill be the experienced player, but thatll be awhile...havnt even picked up my cue in a week, too much hockey.

I really haven't thought the "scouting the players" thing but you're giving me an idea. I attend tournaments mostly to check out the place, tables, table time, people, ambience, price of beer :) . Looking for an affordable, decent place to hang out, so to speak.

Audio, doesn't the lawyer with the Harley get sued for noise pollution? 8O :D

LOL.. Actually funny you mention that. He is one of the very FEW Harley owners that did not take the baffles out of the exhaust. His bike is actually pretty quiet compared to most Harley's. Oh yeah, he is also an ex Navy Seal.. :-)

I used to play in monthly tournaments and league but the last year was very busy for me and I didn't had the time to practice and to get to the tournaments.
Coming December, there is an annual 8ball tournament that is considered as the national championship in 8 ball, last year I finished at 16-32, this year I was hopping to do better, but something came up and I'm gonna miss that tournament, unless a miracle will happen :(

Skor, at least for now...I'll know not to be playing you in 8 ball....that is a pretty nice accomplishment!. If I were that good, I'd find a way to play in it.... :? mike

I'm a better 9ball player then 8ball, although I've been playing a lot of 8ball lately, I'll know in the next few days if I can get into the tournament.

Ex-Navy seal, huh? I certainly hope he doesn't have a temper when playing. :D

Skor, we hope you can play and we will certainly root for you. :D For how long will the tournament last, by the way?

While he does hate losing, he is about the most well mannered person in the bar... :)

That's good to know. I certainly would feel jittery playing with a guy like that. :) I thought YOU were the most well-mannered person in the bar? 8O :D

Thanx :)
the tournament is something like a week long but I don't need to play every day.

Played my second round last night.

It was a very good match.

Score was 2(me)-5. Then it was 6(me)-5. :D On the 12th rack, I had an easy billiard from 7 to the 9. Hit was too thin on the 9. Lost the rack. Score was now 6-6. On the final rack, scratched on the 6th ball. Lost the match.

Oh well, I'll do better on the next tournament. :)
