I am seriously thinking of going to the army, active duty, as an MP. I feel an extreme urge to serve my country, as well as change my life.
That said, does anyone have any military stories to share?
Chad
Been there, done that, didn't realy like it :(

In all seriousness...
I was a civilian advisor, trained advanced CQB tactics for SOCOM teams...
I was fortunate enough to enjoy all the "Cool" things about the military, while still being a civilian and being able to do whatever I wanted as long as I was there to instruct...
The military is a very unique... Thing... Err, for lack of a better description.. But, what you need to do is talk to as many "Non-Recruiters" as you can.. Find out the truth of every day military life. If you are comfty and can handle what it offers, then it can be the greatest thing of a lifetime. Elsewise, it can make you want to kill yourself..
DO NOT MAKE A DECISION IS HASTE!!!!
Get info before signing anything...!!!!!!!!

I am going...I am going to sign the preliminary papers tuesday. I have thought about it for over a month, and talked to many non-recruiters and I think it is the right thing for me. Besides, I feel an overwhelming need to serve my country. I think that this is the most important thing I will ever do.

I thought I would let you know I took the asvab last night. I scored a 95 out of 99. They are in a hurry to get me signed up to say the least.

I don't know what ASVAB means but your score looks impressive. :D
No wonder they're in a hurry.

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. They test you on the basic stuff (Paragraph Comprehension, Math, etc) but they also test you on electrical information, auto & shop, assembling models, and mechanical comprehension. A 50 is all I needed to be an MP, so I scored well over what I needed.

Good luck on the Military career. If the US Army is even close to the Canadian Army, then MP's are some of the most hated people in service. I wanted to go MP for the Canadians, but I needed on more piece of education, which I didn't get. Education is needed as the Canadian MP's start as a Corporal straight out of basic training. Oh well, cabinet making will have to do :D . have fun with basic training, as I hear it is TOUGH. If you're not in shape now, you will be very quickly. Keep us posted.

And decent cues to say the least. I hope they let you carry your cues in the camp. :)
Good luck.
I rather carry a cue instead of a gun, why ?
1. It's cooler
2. It won't stain your cloths (oil stains)
3. It's lighter.
4. It doesn't fit into an instroke case (or any other case)
5. You can't fit a ten pieces Predator burrel to it.
6. You can't walk into a bar and get crazy with it, unless you want to be roommate of Charles Menson for the rest of your life.
The only good thing about a gun is that you can still pocket a ball from a 100ft. :)

I think that a big THANK YOU is deserved for Chad! I am the proud daughter, grandaaughter, and niece of military men! I believe it is the most honorable field of work to be in! Good Luck, and God Bless
I agree with 9BallDiva. My brother Scott is currently in Iraq and has been for over a year and half. He's supposed to return home (finished) in Spring of 2005 (hopefully)..just in time to see his oldest daughter graduate from high school. He then will be retiring as he has served 20 years for the Military. He was an US Marine and then enlisted for the US Army Reserves.
Many thanks to the men & women that have and are serving USA.
