My McDermott Alpha will be in my hands tonight at pool league and I will be giving it a first test. Since I will not be able to change the tip at that time, it is being delivered to me by my friend who I bought it from, I will be using it with the stock Triangle tip. I do plan to install a phenolic tip on it once I get it home. I figure if I like the phenolic then I'll stay with that, if not then I will switch to something like a Talisman Pro XH or similar. I will post up an initial review late tonight or tomorrow morning. 8)

BTW, the specs on it: 18oz with 13.5mm shaft. :)

Review time: I really like it! So far so good, making at least one ball on the break more often than before. In fact I only failed to make a ball on the break twice in 10 or so games. I am eager to try it with the phenolic tip. The 13.5mm shaft is very solid feeling, quite firm and powerful. :)

I have the phenolic tip installed on it, did it late last night. Sanding down the sides was time consuming, but it looks good! Anyway, I am going to try it out here this afternoon at the local pool room. 8)

Ok, now that I have used it a bit I can say that it was worth it. I am able to get a better spread of the rack and typically sink at least one ball more often.

does your cue have a wrap or no wrap ?

No wrap on the C152. It is charcoal stained, quite dark but you can see the grain of the wood up close. From a distance it looks black, kinda cool IMO. I had removed the phenolic tip to use it as a playing cue while the DZ was in the works. Now that I have the DZ the phenolic is going back on!
