My sister had agreed to buy me a P2(yay!) and she lives in California.

At first I had asked her to ship the cue to me here in the Philippines but then I thought about the duty tax. I had asked around and it probably going to cost me around $150 (not a trifling amount here).

I then told her to just have the cue shipped to her in California and have her husband carry it back here. He can just declare it as luggage since it is inside the "nuclear-blast" containers. This way no duty tax (I think).

Any of you guys think this is a good idea? Any other ideas are most welcome.

Thanks.

P.S.

And for those of you who think that it would be better if I just buy a P2 here (yes, it's available here) I' have to say that it is not an option. The P2 here costs 95,000++ pesos or rougly around $1,600. I might as well buy a custom cue for that amount.

Just a side note, I have vehemently suggested that she order from Seybert's. :D

Thanks, Zach. Yes, the price is obscene actually.

Seyberts are good people to order from...Id like to say they live up to their word, but Deb hasnt come through on a promise she made.....;) All three cues Ive recieved from them were in great shape.

I think you have the right idea there on getting your cue to ya in the most inexpensive way. I am not up to much on the tax ways, but could he also simply say it was a gift if they did look at it?

A while back I had to bring some servers to Brazil. The tax is 100% and I was bringing 40,000 dollars worth over. So I simply brought them myself and told the inspectors that I was an IBM business partner, which I am, and I was bringing them over to do demos.. This is what the CEO of the company told me to do, thankfully it worked. Kinda risky with that dollar amount.. Eeek.... I was nervous...

Tell him to unpack it, chalk it up and then pack it again and then he could say that this his "old used" cue, and there won't be any problem
