It is hard to really tell for sure what it is, but sure looks like a piece of paper to me... It has been defended elsewhere as a pen, but I am thinking not....

Doesn't matter a whole lot to me because his prior history has made my mind up already.

The American public perceived that Bush took a royal ass kicking in the first debate because of a pen or a piece of paper? 8O

In the interest of a fair and balanced forum didn't that bulge at the back of Bush's jacket look an awful lot like a power pack, which Bush would need to power an IFB if indeed what appeared to be in his ear actually is an IFB? It certainly makes one wonder .......

Nah, I don't wonder. Nobody, not even Bush, could have botched the answers that badly if they were being prompted. Well, maybe, if Cheney was the one doing the prompting????? No, not even that would explain it.

Any way tonight should be Bush's chance to turn the tables. Tonight’s town hall style debate is said to be his strong suit.

Well technology however is a bit more advanced that you would see any bulge from a power pack for a transceiver. The entire transceiver, power source included, can easily fit within the confines of a single ear bud. These of course cost a pretty penny, but I would think if needed he would have such toys available.. :)

But either way you are write. I don't think there could have been much on a piece of paper, or two, or three, that would have offered an edge to Kerry. I am still curious as to what it was. I was thinking maybe an inspirational picture of his wife and children would be more likely really.. I dunno...

Cant wait to watch tonights though. I remember the initial speech after 9-11, Bush's speaking did not offer much confidence.. However the following speechs were 100 times better. Probably a lot of coaching, but also how easy is it really to speak after such events.. Anyway, I am hoping to see a similiar happening in that he does better tonight.
