I took a 2 hour lesson with George Pawelski in Milwaukee today. I found out alot. My bridge was terrible, I was allowing the cue to move any which way. I was holding the cue too tightly and the wrong way. All that has now been fixed and my shots were better almost immediately. I also found out that I need a smaller diameter shaft as I kind of have small hands, anyone know the diameter of a Predator because that is what I was using today

He gave me alot of things to work on to practice position play and made some sound recommendations about how and what to practice. I encourage anyone (unless you may be a potential opponent of mine) to take a lesson if you want to improve, I was skeptical but now I am a believer.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

The Predator Z-Shaft has a really strong taper to it, and it is thinner than most shafts. In addition to that, especially if your are an novice or intermediate player, a Z-Shaft will possibly make things a lot easier for you. The need to compeansate for cue ball deflection almost goes away with a Z-Shaft, so I would recommend taking a look at that.

Outside of that, any shaft can be turned down to a smaller diameter. Seyberts can do this for you and the cost is pretty inexpensive..

DEATHRON, Skor will likely reply to your question... :)

The 314 is 12.75mm by default and only warrantied to 12.25mm...so if it was a 314 it was probably somewhere between that range. The Z shaft is about 11.5mm at the tip with a stronger taper.

I've lived in Vegas since April and have kind of been looking around for instructors with no luck. There are no active BCA certified instructors in Las Vegas, but there are 2 'reserve' instructors. It wouldn't hurt to email them and ask if they give lessons or know anybody. William Deethardt is one of them, his email is wils117@yahoo.com. The other is Mark Griffin, his email is msgriffco@aol.com. For some reason his phone number does not have a Las Vegas area code though. I found both of these names on the BCA website. Mark Griffin's name had the BCA league homepage as his webpage, so I have a feeling he's working in, or running the national office which just moved here.

Also, I do know that 'The Monk' Tim Miller will be in town November 22-23 giving some sort of workshop. Here's the info at his website http://www.themonk.com/vegas-seminar.htm. The price he has listed is $250 for a five hour workshop.

Anyway, good luck finding somebody. This should get you started. If you want any more info about the city -- places to play, places to eat, some non-gambling things to do -- let me know. (let me know where you're staying and if you'll have a rental car or not so I can be specific, lol)

I get in on thanksgiving day with my family. Everyone else is old enough to gamble, though im not. Oh well, I would think there would be a larger list of instructors there, but no big deal. Ill figure it all out eventually.

I went to the black widow experience, er, wandered in. I was down in Indy at chalkie's, and walked to the back because I heard applause, and she was back there. The night I was there, it was a trick shot show.

I wandered into day one of the 3 day thing. It was the black widow experience, because there were posters on the wall advertising it for the day I was there. Her husband george, and I think, 3 other instructors were there. They were doing introductions and a trick shot show. They told everyone to be back at 10 in the morning the next day.
