Wow what is this!? An actual real life pool related question...

Okay, so I bought my buddy's pool table, and got everything moved over quite easily. In putting it back together I found that the hardest part was not really the leveling of the pieces, but melting the beeswax into the center slate holes, and seams. I still dont quite have it done to my liking. Does anyone have any suggestions on doing this? It is difficult to get it smooth and level. I am using a simple blowtorch for the melting..

You will need to go out and buy a Stanley 4" scraper blade. I would think any Lowes or Home Depot would have this. But the key is to use the Blue billiard wax for application, it seems to do a better job. Heat the slate in the area you are applying the wax first, this will bring the moisture out. Then melt your wax down the seem, about a 3 inch wide bead will work. Let dry. Before scraping the wax you will need to quickly heat the wax up and then follow with the scraper blade, this should leave a perfect seam. The holes are the tricky part. The ploblem is do not heat the bolts up when doing this, they will stay hot forever and the wax doesnt dry. So just drip the wax in until it bubbles up, let dry and do same procedures as the seam.

It is the scraper blade that I am missing then.. I tried just letting it melt evenly to no avail. Was not sure if scraping was the way to go. I'll be heading to Home Depot at lunch time!

Thanks Rick!
