In looking at the USA Today polls I notice something that should have John Kerry very worried. Since early July he has continually lost ground to Bush. Being that we are now less than 60 days from election day, and the fact that Bush's has been growing for the past two months, something serious has to happen if Kerry is going to win the election. I believe that the reason why Kerry has dropped over the past two months is due to the public becoming more informed about his patterns of flip-flopping and double-talk. Combine that along with his whining about being attacked during the RNC while his whole ad campaign is a smear campaign, and it adds up to election day doom for the other liberal senator from Massachusetts.

I think what did it was www.jibjab.com...
lol.. While it takes shots at both sides, and is very funny, I think it is one of the things that let a lot of people know about Kerry's wishy washy patterns...

LOL, hey anything that gets the word out right?! It is a numbers of things, but it spells bad news for Kerry.

I have absolutely no faith in polls, especially two months before the election. Polls change and they have swung back and forth this election season with Bush having the lead early then loosing it only to gain it back recently. No doubt the swift boat campaign and the attacks at the GOP convention hurt Kerry. Recent revelations, if they make the mainstream press, about Bush's cocaine use at Camp David while his Daddy was president or the fact that the only reason Bush wasn't given negative performance evaluations by his commanding officer while in the Texas Air Nation Guard was because of intervention from officers higher up the chain of command may swing the polls back. And then again perhaps some other unforeseen event will pop up only to have the polls swing once more.
If the last presidential election tells us any thing, it is that polls don't matter. The most accurate poll of all is when Americans actually go to the polls. No margin of error. No doubts about how questions are worded. But as was the case in the last election even the results of the most accurate poll of all, the election, does not guarantee that the candidate that the majority of Americans voted to be president, will be president.
If you want a better understanding of the polls is to go to the LA Times web site and they have a wonderful page that listing recent polling results state by state and shows the results as electoral college votes.

So are you saying that you want the electoral college repealed dags? You want the few liberal states with large populations to inflict their will upon the voting outcome moreso than they do now? With the electoral college there is more of a balance. I sense some bitterness over Gore losing in 2000. You can't honestly think that we would be better off right now had Gore won.
dags_lax

Actually I didn't vote for Gore. And as for would we have been better off with Gore? I don't see how we could be any worse off.
Even though I don't take much stock in polls this is your topic so according to recent polls Bush's over all approval rating is at 41% and more than half the country feel that the United States is heading in the wrong direction.
As for the electoral college it has served its purpose and should go. What are the few large liberal states that you refer to? Texas, California, New York, and Florida have the most electoral votes. Two of the those four went for Bush in the last election and all four have Republican Governors.
Because a states electoral votes equals the number of US Senators and Representatives a vote in Wyoming is worth more than a vote in California because each state has two Senators regardless of population. This actually favors conservative candidates because, as a general rule, small states vote for the more conservative candidate.

Historicaly no president with an overall approval rating below 50% the has ever been reelected. On the other side of the coin no candidate from the senate has been elected president since JFK. One trend will be broken this November.

Indeed it will be, and I believe it will be the one with the below 50% approval rating. The liberal senator from Massachusetts will not win.

Man, trends of some sort are broken every day. In these VERY changing times, I would not consider trend analysis to reliable...
On a side note of trends.. FL has not been hit by 3 hurricanes in 1 season since 1964. Looks we will break yet another hurricane trend this year. Last one being two hurricans within 3 weeks time.. Wow, I wonder how many records we are breaking here! Do we get a prize or a tophy of some sort...
Politically related, Jeb Bush, obviously Dubya's bro, has done a surprisingly great job of keeping people motivated and and getting things squared away. And somehow order has been kept decent, and looting has been well controlled also..

The preidency will be decided on October 31st.
Here is an intersting note:
In the past 18 presidential elections, if the Redskins lost or tied the last game before the election, the party in the White House lost, too. The Redskins' opponent Oct. 31: the Green Bay Packers.

Wow... It amazes me that someone is doing such trend analysis...
if that statement is true...then I guess we're gonna have Kerry for president.
Hrmm. Dunno if that's good or bad heh.
As for somebody doing that sort of tread analysis....either they have way too much time on their hands or some sort of NFL/Politic freak... a VERY interesting information however!

Actually we are approaching 4 hurricanes (Jeanne is headed our way too), and that wouls make 3 hurricanes in 3 weeks! Trust me, we are breaking records!!! LOL I agree Jeb has done a fine job keeping us motivated. So far we [Florida] have been pretty lucky. We haven't sustained to bad of damages...some fallen trees, demolished cars, caved roofs (from trees), power outages, few deaths...but this is not as bad as it could have been. I'm so afraid our luck will run out by the end of the hurricane season, which isn't expected to end until November...YIKES!!

What humors me is listening to the "Hurricane Caused Deaths"
4 People in Deland died when their 2 motorcycles hit a tree downed by the hurricane. There was 147 feet of skid marks and they were estimated to be going 80mph...
Ok... No where in Deland does the speed limit even go over 45... So why were they doing 80?? Hurricane related, or just stupid??
How about the man who fell off a ladder and died while trying to fix his hurricane damaged roof...
Umm.... So because this tool doesn't know how to climb a ladder, it is the hurricanes fault he died??
Out of about 20 deaths they report on, I would say only 5 are really Hurricane related. A Lady had a tree fall through her roof and it crushed her to death. THAT is a hurricane related death.

LOL...they either way over exaggerate, or way under exaggerate! That is only one of the many examples I have heard or seen. I was watching the news during one of 15,000 current hurricanes forming, and this was swaying back and forth (to demonstrate high winds), and a fellow news anchor walks up beside him, puts his arm around him, and just stands there. Clothes are blowing a bit, but not to the demonstrated capacity. News anchors are SOOOO comical sometimes!
Just to make sure we all understand:
-Car swirving in a residential area to miss branch in road off of a tree that was knocked over by Frances, then ends up plowing into the side of a home....NOT HURRICANE RELATED DEATH, right??!!
-Person being rotated at 130 miles an hour inside of car, inside of Frances....HURRICANE REALATED DEATH, right??!!
I think I got the hang of this!

Greg...these winds are getting more fierce by the minute. I almost cannot stand up, WHOA, did you see that huge branch almost hit me? I'm telling you what Greg, whoever is in the middle of Godzilla, is really gonna hurt come tomorrow morning. You can see the trees leaning as if they are literally reaching out for the ground. Man, this is absolutely trecherous. AAAH...<clunk clunk static static>...sorry about that Greg, the wind knocked that microphone right out of my hands. These winds have got to be at least 200 mph. I can barely stand up. Folks if you still have power and are watching this news broadcast, it is obvious that you should get the heck out of northeast Florida. That includes Jacksonville, Orlando, Gainesville, St. Augustine...basically everyone North of Tampa, and East of the panhandle. Godzilla is on a rampage, and she isn't afraid to take us down. This gust is taking me away....AAAAaaaaaahhhh.... Weee arrrre liiiive iiiinnnn Flooooridaaa, bbbaaaaccckkk tttooo yoooouu Grrreeeggg!

Well, Audio caught me with the shoe thing, however not with the shopping thing. I only shop when I am really gonna shop. For some reason though, every time I do shop I end up buying more shoes. I will admit, I love shoes. I have pink, orange multiple black, multiple white, multiple brown, light browns, olive green.........but that's only because I have to have shoes to match everything I wear...my shoes ALWAYS match my shirt or my pants!

Well I sure called Diva's number! 50 pair of shoes!?!?
One Pair Doc Martins.
One Pair Brown Dress Shoes.
One Pair Good Sneakers.
One Pair Old Beat Up Mow the Lawn Sneakers.
In cases where a black dress shoe is required, I wear the Doc's. Which by the way, are the most comfortable longest lasting shoe I have ever owned.

I must admit though us guys do a better share of breaking our necks to look at things.. Almost every decent looking lady opens the possibility up for a broken neck. Fast or nicely modded cars will do the same.. Both of said examples seem to be quite abundant. Thus I visit the chiropractor on a weekly basis for spinal straightening.. :)

About the same as audio Audio plus:
Bowling shoes: Haven't bowled for probably ten years. Not enough strength left in my hands to hold onto a bowling ball but I still have the shoes.
Cleats: For that once a year, charities old timers softball tournament.
Hunting Boots and of course:
Sorell Packs, because sometimes it can get cold here in Wisconsin.
My favorites are my lawn mowing shoes. I like to wear them out in public because it pisses off Mrs. Dags. I would wear them to church but I fear Mrs. Dags would go from pissed off to violent.
We got to have a TV show about Mr. & Mrs. Dags.
This is just too cute!

I think that Guys and Chicks shop the same, we just buy different things. Girls buy shoes for differnet days..cloudy sunny, 10% cloudy etc... guys buy guns, ammo, sporting equipment etc...it can all be applied.
However, cars, those go beyond the sexes....
