Why are the Genesis series cues so cheap? Are they lower quality cues or just so plain that they can be made that much cheaper? I'm comparing the MG-9 @ $160 and the EF-19 @ $255. Alowing $50 for the leather on the EF-19 they are still $45 apart. The only remaining difference that I can see is that the EF-19 is made of "Exotic" Birds Eye Maple and the MG-9 is made of (non-exotic) Birds Eye Maple. Will the "exotic" wood make a difference in the playablility of the cue? I'm looking for an entry-level cue that will give me the most value for my limited budget. Any suggestions?

Most Mcdermott cues come with the same shaft, sometimes with different ring work, but still it's the same shaft, these two cues have the same shaft and joint so if they have the same weight and balance, they will play just the same.
The EF-19 has more "bird eyes" in the but, which is a bit more rare and cost a bit more, also putting leather wrap cost $80-$100, so there is the difference in the price.

Hello All!

check out this thread http://www.seyberts.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=1205

I have an MG-7 with black leather wrap and stainless steel joint colllar.

This series is plain and stained birdseye maple while the MG6 & MG7 are painted.
