Hey everyone here are some pics I took of our house and neighbors after the storm. I dont expect we will have power anytime soon. I am at work right now, and everything here is ok.

It took me about 3 hours to cut down and move the tree blocking my garage just so I could get out. These pics are only the tip of the iceberg, tornados hit in a couple places only a few miles away, and it is worse. Power lines are down everywhere, but hats off to the power companies. We had trucks convoyed down from LA, AL, TN, everywhere.. They are getting things cleaned up and put back together quickly. Our power is said to be back in about 5 days..

I guess you guys are a bit lucky, it doesn't seems to be too much damage to property (except that truck), I hope you have some kind of an emergency power generator, at least to light up the pool table...:)

Somehow the debris skated around our house and my girlfriends truck.. My car was safely tucked away in the garage, but her truck we had no where to put. I moved it next to the house and it was a good thing I did. The tree in the driveway would have smashed the cab pretty bad...

We have spent some of the weekend at my sisters house as they have a generator. We have been cooking it up actually... Lots of food and in between clearing up the roads and homes, we all are having a good time really...

WE are very lucky, cant say so much for Punta Gorda.. They got the brunt of it, and many lives were lost. No confirmed numbers yet though... Either way though, glad we made it out okay..

I saw a few others besides the ranger, including an SS Camaro.. We took a moment of silence as we passed that house..

I screamed.. NOOOO!!!!!! NOT A CAMARO!!!!

I had my car parked in the garage, no worries...

My girlfriends truck had no choice but to be outside.. As you can see in my driveway pic, it would have been smashed if we left it their.. I had pulled it up along side the house before the storm started.. It got through untouched somehow...

It was really neat listening to the storm as it was rolling through.. At one point I actually ventured outside and lit things up with my tac light, and it was amazing to see things being thrown around..

I guess FL has its goods and bads. Glad to hear everyone is ok though. Glad too that we don't have to worry about those storms here. an occasional tornado will roam through but never came close to me (i shouldn't talk... Knock on wood).

How does this Hurricane compare to andrew and the others???

They are saying it is quickly approaching the same damage stats as Andrew. Not as many lives were loss it seems, which is a good thing, but dollar wise we are at 14 Billion... And they have not finished their assesments, so the number is still rising...

Even with the complacency we have this far inland, when it comes to hurricanes, more people took this seriously as opposed to Andrew. I think that helped a great deal...

The worse part of the hurricane is not during, but after it is done.. So many of us are still without power. Mine is not supposed to be back up until Sunday, 9 days after the storm passed.. Really, I could care less.. I've been through worse conditions. I feel for the elderly and really young kids who are not able to cope with the heat, and do not know how to pass their time now...
