I need to get a new cue tip. I'm looking for recommendations for someone/company who does this well.
Also, is it customary to supply your tip to the person who does this, or do they get the tip that you specify and also put it on.
I've never replaced my tip before, and any pointers would be helpful.
Thanks.

I don't know if they do tips but they are nice and give a good service, if they do not do tip replacing, then you should go to:
BLATT Billiards
809 Broadway, New York, NY 10003
212-674-8855
the guys at Blatt are not the nicest people on earth but they are pros and they know what they are doing.
You do not need to supply the tip, you can buy it there.

Thanks, but I'd rather poke my eyes out and then pour salt in them rather than give Blatt's my business.
Those guys are arrogant, unhelpful jerks.

Yikes, thanks for the heads up! :o
Yeah, I feel strongly about Blatts...I wish there were a great billiards retailer in Manhattan...surprising, given great stores for just about everything else.
All Fun & Games (the address is posted above), is a great store and the service is great, I got there my predator cue, and before I decided to get it I played with it on the store table for about 30 minutes (I could have played more but it wasn't necessary :) )
I also used to get there darts supply and they always took the time to show me things and explain things.
All Fun & Games...is that between 7th and 8th? they have a big Minnesota Fats banner above their store front? if so, that place is a complete rip off...Z shaft is 275 dollars there. i also am skeptical at how much they know...so i wouldnt bring a predator shaft there for re-tipping.
i may go there to try the predator though:D i remember i was looking at their vikings and i got to shoot around with it as long as i pleased...and they are great about that. great people, great service...makes you feel welcome and pleasant in the store, but if you are going to buy any sort of equipment, an online retailer will net you big savings as opposed to buying through them.
anyway, all you NY shooters, where do you play? i play over at broadway billiards at 10 21st street...its a block east from Slate. 4 bux an hour, cant find anything cheaper.

it is a regular store. go to stores and pool rooms and they will sell items retail price.

That's the place, shoping online will always be cheaper but there is a risk involved, buying in a store after seeing the item for real, holding it and checking ti is always safer.

Is that the place that is underground and has like 2 rows of tables ?
If that's the place I've there a few times it used to be $3 an hour back then  But usualy I would play at Corner Billiard and sometimes I would go to Soho Billiard.
Since I was a village rat going uptown was like going to another state so Amsterdam was too far but I was there every now and then

Skor, have you ever had a tip done at All Fun & Games? i'm looking to get a 314 shaft, and my break shaft down, and shoot around with the Z while i wait
No, I haven't
A friend replaced my tip for the first time and he didn't get the job done quite good, I've been doing my own tips ever since.
