I recently purchase a Viking display cue from Mike Janis who runs the 9 ball tour sponsored by Viking. Basically it is a W27 with green instead of vermillion inlay, a metal to implex joint (joint #1), and black with green speck linen wrap. The cue is about to be sent back to Viking for some changes and to have them mount a Predator 314 shaft. Of course there are questions:

Considering changing from the linen wrap to black leather. Any comments about the Viking leather wrap and how well it holds up to sweaty hands?

Can they install ring work on the Predator shaft that matches the ring work on the Viking shaft?

If they can match ring work, is the Predator logo still visible on the shaft? (I am not concerned about the logo itself, it would just be handy for identifying shafts in a dimly lit pool hall.)

Thanks,
Tom

Id have the shaft fitted by someone else besides Viking, send it to seyberts and they can have all the work done you want.

Let me tell you this about the leather wrap.... It is great!!!

I ordered my Viking VM9 a couple years ago and had it fitted with the leather wrap. I will never go back to anything else. The Viking wrap was very well done. The seam was only noticable under very close inspection, and it never showed any signs of peeling away after a good amount of play...

FYI for Seybert’s:

I normally support my billiard habit through Seybert’s but this purchase was a one time only deal on a display preproduction cue (Total quantity available was 1). Due to Viking’s warranty requirements I am considering letting them do the initial modifications to this cue.

The Predator 314 partial will be purchased from Seybert’s. The Talisman Pro medium tips for both shafts were purchased from Seybert’s as were most of the accessories for my pool table and all that stuff in the pouch of my cue case.

Just did not want there to be any misunderstanding because I both use and strongly recommend Seybert’s.

Thanks,
Tom
