Im currently looking for a new cue to upgrade to. I think ive run the list down to 2 cues . The J. Pechauer Pro Series P17 or the Predator 4k3 , im sure both cues are a great choice just ive never played with either so its goign on faith no local shops sell predator or J. Pechauer . I have shot with a 314 before its nice but somewhat different than a maple shaft honestly they are good but im not sure if they are worth the extra 200$ price tag to a cue , which i nthis case the 4k3 comes with a 314 standard , But then again i liek the idea of a custom cue. Any opinions drop one :)

as far as i know most of the greats of the past shot with maple 1 piece shafts, but would they have used the new shafts if available? in internet searches run across a few of the old timers still sticking to the tried and true. but 200 bucks i hear ya, guess if u can parlay it into 500 and up sure. all shafts regardless deflect, however little or much hust have to get use to it. to me taper and feel of shaft is much more important. and not much variety in that area.

Asking an old timer if he'll switch to a low deflection shaft and the answer would be "NO" 99% of the time.
But if such LD shafts were available at the time that they started playing then my guess is that today's number of over 50% pro players uses LD shafts would have been pretty accurate back then as well.
