I just purchased a Lucasi L-2004NB and was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade to the Predator shaft.

Can anyone tell me how I would know the diameter of the shaft on this particular model cue?

Also a reccomendation on a 2x2 case would be appriecated,i'm looking for a medium priced case,
Lucasie Cases ?

In my opinion putting a predator shaft on any cue will turn the cue into a great cue, the butt does not effect the feel or the hit of the cue only the shaft, the tip and the joint, so I would say go a head and get a predator shaft.
Regarding the case, if you get to travel a lot with your cues then I think you should save up a bit a get an instroke or a talisman, these cases will protect your cues from weather changes as well, if you just take the cues from your home to the pool hall and back without leaving them in your car for a long period of time then I think that any hard case will do just fine, the Giuseppe cases offer a good case for a good price and unlike most of the cheap tube cases you can put the butt in with the joint facing up.
In any case I would suggest on getting a 2x3 or a 2x4 case just in case you will get a jump cue or you'll want room for an extra shaft, here at seyberts on the regular vinyl Giuseppe cases the difference between a 2x2 to a 2x4 is only $14

Hey TwopieceQ,

The Lucasi's uni-loc joint is the same as the Predator's.

My friend is planning to buy a Lucasi L-2004NB.
Can you tell me more about this cue? What was your first impression?
Quality of inlays? Balance? Feel? Hit?

Is the shaft flexible? What about cueball deflection? How can you operate if you hit english on the ball?

Also if you can please send me a close up picture of the cue.

My e-mail is: vkatics@enternet.hu

Thanks,
Viktor

I may be wrong about the cue in particular, but a lot of Lucasi cues do not use inlays. They are just decals then painted over. I think they may have some that use real inlays, but I really don't know about the above...

Yeah I just got a Lucassi L2004NB. I love the way that it hits. Right away i noticed my ball control picked up a lot. Its definatly a good cue to buy in my opinion. i was very happy with the purchase.

I may need to poke around a bit with a newer Lucasi.. My experience in past years with them has not been the greatest... However, I have been seeing some good reviews. Granted, those reviews are more so from novice players, but I am curious to see if the production lines have kicked things up a notch...

Actually, the deal with Lucasi was never the feel, just how long the structural integrity of the cue lasted...

While I do not recall off hand ring problems, I have seen premature wrap problems, as well as warping.

The thing I see a lot of lately though is how many people who like the hit of it... Is it because they are beginners and have just not hit with too many cues, or has Lucasi really got something going for them as far as feel goes???

Personally, I do not think anything compares to the hit of my Nitti with a Radial Pin/Ivory joint.. And believe me, I went through many combos... I like aspects of some of my other cues hits, plinkness (lol), sound, feedback, etc... But my Nitto (oops not talking tires)... NITTI, just feels like it is part of my arm.

Picture tapping your finger on a desktop... It feels a certain way, natural... Now put on a steel thimble, it feels differently.. Maybe not good or bad, better or worse... Just different.. Same goes for a rubber thimble... Either way, neither feels as natural as a naked finger...

The same is true of my Radial/Ivory joint..

(sorry about the thimble reference, and yes... I do my own sewing... lol) 8)

well maybe with your promotion you can get a lucasi cue and test it and let us know what you think about it (since you are not a beginner)

#1: i am not a beginner

#2: my lucasi has real inlays

#3: i loved they way a lucasi hit the first time i tried one hence, why i bought one of my own.

#4: i just got a predator shaft last week for my cue, and it is AWSOME! i really didn't believe how well the joint lined up, IT IS TRUE; uni-loc IS the most precise fitting joint.

I have a Lucasi with a 314 shaft. I like the feel and the hit. I just ordered a Viking F97 and a 314 shaft for it from Seybert's. I hope to get it in a few weeks. I customized it, so it might take awhile to get it.

The local pool hall where I play sells low-end Lucasis and some real garbage cues. The less expensive of the higher-end sticks are also Lucasis. So for someone who plays a lot and decides to buy his/her first stick, they'll look to the expert at the pool hall for advice and end up with a Lucasi. And since it's their first cue, they'll love it....okay, I'm the guy in this example :)

I didn't like my stick at first, because of the tinny feel - used to playing with house sticks for 30 years. But now I love it and looking forward to the Predator 314 shaft that arrives today from Seybert's...by Pack Mulex

I have a Lucasi L2004NB and was amaized by the fit and finish. It has real inlays and looks much better than a lot of meuchi cues that I've seen. The hit is solid and the shaft for now is dead straight. The only problem I have with it is the finish, while extreamly slick and smooth seems to be very soft and is prone to dents and nicks so be very carefull with it. Over all for the money I don't think you will find a more intricately detailed cue.

Erik, I am curious. I know we have all gone around a few times about cues and such. And I know you have been very satisfied with your Lucasi, which is great. But I was just wondering what made ya go with the Viking over getting another Lucasi? Is it just curiosity on your part? You want to know how the Viking compares to what ya have now?

I know you had posted on your forum you heard good things about it.. As you well know I would vouch for Viking cues myself, which I have in fact on this forum in the past.

I really hope you like it when you do finally receive it, as much as I have liked mine. I am hoping you see how it's quality stands out, especially for the price...

Mated with the 314 you are well used to, I think you will be pretty happy with it. I know you did not order anything fancy, but the workmanship should still stand out...

Well, sorry for the book... Just in a typing mood tonight I guess.. lol...

Congrats on the new cue though!!

btw, How is the new job going!?
