I saw this movie opening night with the family. I thought it did a decent job of following the book with what it could do in a motion picture and the limit on filming time, but overall, for me, a degradation from the first two films in the series.

I noted that the director changed for this one and it was noticed. Hogwartz moved and it's surrounding scenery drastically changed. Hagrid's hut is now way off the grounds, not just out the back door of the courtyard. The kids were not wearing their robes around the castle, only in class (the real clothing thing sort of took away from the wizarding look for me). Dumbledore did not have the dress of a well-respected headmaster and the new actor does not portray the quiet power that Richard Harris portrayed in the first two films.

A must see for anyone that is an aficionado of J.K. Rowling's works, but a let down I think for continuing the greatness put forth by the initial director.

I have the first two one DVD. My ex-girlfriend was really into H.P. so I had bought them. As it turned out I really enjoyed them, but will likely wait for the DVD, as with most movies... I like having something I can keep and watch again, I do that often..

I'll get the DVD when it comes out too, but a segment of our family is crazy about Harry Potter. We're anxiously awaiting the sixth book.

I read all 5 books after I had seen the first two movies. Books are always better IMHBAO and it was not different here.
