the tatto I have on my arm has a dark bio-mechanic theme, inspired by H.R Giger (the guy that made Alien...)

The tattoo that I will have done this summer will be from my own design.....I don't draw too well but Fast Freddy in Port Huron Michigan said he would fix it up and have me okay it and then it'll be on my arm :)

I know it'll have a heart, some kind of arm band....just need to put it all together and complete it.

I'm thinkin a knife thru the heart but I don't know if I want it to be like..morbid or something like that....

Skor, That is maybe the type tattoo everyone describes I should get.. One where it looks as if the skin is ripped open and cybernetics are underneath as if I am a machine. (Derived from my many odd machine like talents.)

Hmm...not exactly what I had in mind.....I'll see if I can scan the image I was working on and show it to ya all and see what ya think...

the meaning I'm trying to caputre is something like I'm very cautious of my heart..and who would hold the key to my heart.

(Yeah lots of sob and sad stories in romance) hehe

Deb

Yeah it sure sucks don't it? :)

That's why I've been single for almost a year. Takin time to myself and that's when I thought I'll make a tattoo....so when I date somebody....(tattoo'll be on my left arm)...it would be a reminder to myself and it would intitate a conversation naturally.

Doesn't suck to much when you finally realize it helps mold you into the person you are now. I value the things I have learned from past relationships. I used to let it get me down, but at one point when things got very depressing, things happened and I am not able to look at them in a positive manner.

Deb

Very True. Each relationship that I have been in...I have learned a lesson, and I have brought those lessons w/ me and taught myself and pretty much made myself to be a better person.

Firm believer in communication & trust.

The H.R. Giger is a cool idea, he has some pretty far out art work.

I could never see myself getting a tatoo, mainly for the same reasons as Audio. I could never decide on anything cool and I would want to make sure 30 years down the road I would still want it on my body. Maybe if I had an ugly birthmark to cover up.....

I want to get a tat but I can't think of an object i would want printed on me for life... dam life can be a long time and that tatoo isn't always going to look lik that. However you only live once so why not. I was thinking of getting something on my back (mainly so i wouldn't get sick of looking at it constantly) maybe something tribal or some sort of kick ass design. but i am a big pussy though and i will probibly procrastinate forever.

sonnic, in your job industry, if you get a tattoo, make sure it is not visible when wearing work clothes.. That'll hinder your moving upwards or even sidewards in the financial industry..

Loud is the thing that upsets me about Harley riders.. I do not understand why they feel the need to annoy the heck out of everyone else. Do they not realize that the noise they produce is not enjoyed by everyone? Why do they infringe on my right to peacefulness? Harleys are slow bikes anyways, are they trying to make them faster? If so sell the Harley and get a Honda.. I just dont get it...

I have to agree on the noise thing. I really like it in the afternoon but when a could of hogs come cruising down my street at 3am it pisses me off to no end. As for speed, you say harleys are slow cause they can only go what a hundred mph? Why have a bike that can go 240mph or whatever those crotch rockets do these days? You can't leagally go faster than 75 in the US anyway. I understand peoples need for speed and what not, so I am not saying that you should not be allowed to get your uber-fast bike, but why ya gotta knock the cruisers?

audiopro
05-28-2004, 04:46 PM
uber-fast, nice..

It is the acceleration part of speed, Harleys lack as well as top speed. Of course it is illegal to accelerate to fast too, so point taken.. I dont knock the cruisers, Honda makes them too.. For me it is just the pipes, and my lack of understanding why they want to be so loud.. It is like these kids with the bumble bee mufflers they put on their cars.. What are they thinking? What is the point?

In my day you would take off cats and mufflers to make the car faster. But with a Harley is that the point?? Or is it to just be loud??

parrothead

I think it is to purely to be loud. They have a copyright on the sound for petes sake.

Yeah they are supposed to be loud, no matter how idiotic the idea is to us lol. Loud and no real extra performance makes no sense to me. Oh well.

Yeah, and ya gotta let the darn things warm up for 6 days before you can ride them, or they just keep stalling.. :)

Honda baby!!

Harley is a clasic bike, if you are looking for performance and speed then it's not for you.
The loud noise is because of the clasic V engine, it has more or less the same technology to it as it had 50 years ago.
I think that one of the reason that they are slow is that when you see/hear one you get to drool for a longer period of time, unlike those super bikes that you hear it go by but you can hardly see it, leaving you wondering what the f#&k that was :)

Actually, the loud noise is the pipe design, not the engine, because every major manufacturer has a V-twin in its lineup. There are two myths the Harley crowd uses to justify loud pipes. First, they claim that "loud pipes save lives." Apparently, they believe that people hear them easier and thus they are more visible. Hogwash. Next time you hear a loud bike, look for it. It just went by you. If you're at an intersection, you won't be able to locate the source of the noise anyway, you'll just be aware that there is noise. What saves lives is public awareness of motorcycles, and making yourself visible to other drivers (e.g., not wearing black leather on dark days). Most Harleys have no reflectors on them, and have illegal light patterns to boot (no license plate light, too dim a tail light or turn signals), which cause them to be less visible. This applies to other brands of customized bikes as well, but Harleys are the biggest offenders. My brother has one, and immediately put pipes on it and changed the lights to make it "look better." My brother is an idiot. His bike is less safe and less rideable, because you can't ride more than a few miles before the noise deafens you. Of course, that makes it harder to hear other vehicles.

The second myth has to do with performance. When I was making some changes to my bike (customized K&N filter, jet kit, different front sprocket, and a few other things), I asked about pipes. My friend who runs the service department of a large dealership said, "These manufacturers designed the engine and exhaust to work together. Do you think if they could legally pull more performance by making them louder they would? Of course they would." The fact is, you can go louder, and you may get a slight performance boost, but to do it, your bike is now illegal. No thanks.

One other note -- my brother just moved into a new neighborhood, a fairly wealthy one. He now has three options -- piss off his neighbors by starting his bike in the morning, or push it to the end of the street before starting it, or not ride it when he wants. None of those are attractive options in my book.

My brother is a stunt rider for Honda and has said the same thing about performance mods to bikes. He has a CBR 600rr that is his daily rider. I asked him when he first got it if he was gonna throw on a Two Bros racing pipe, etc.. And he said pretty much verbatim what your guy said, the bike was designed from the ground up to work with the OEM parts as a whole.

Been riding Harleys since 75...and have owned many other Jap bikes, dating back to 1971. To me, there is no comparison....besides, It's hard to forget Pearl Harbor. ...And, Audio, the new fuel injection Harleys have no warm up period....turn the switch and start it up.....I'm not saying the
%#@$%^# Jap bikes are bad....they are just not for me...mike

Be careful of the racist lingo. Words like "jap" are not really appropriate IMO.
