Hello every one,

I am a newbee to this forum. I have read it a lot lately and I am very impressed with the quality of the answers...

So here goes for my first question:

I just bought a Predator Z-Shaft for My Lucasi cue (E-L20) and I want to do my own tip replacement.

Would the Deluxe Tip Kit (http://www.seyberts.com/cue_accessories/kits/index.htm) from Seybert be a good thing. I am afraid that the Porper Cut-Rite and Porper Mushroom Grazer will be to "big" for the 11.25 mm Z-Shaft.

I have not found anybody that I can trust in my area that would replace a tip for a Z-Shaft.

Thanks,

sanj

I think the mushroom grazer is a good tool and will work fine when changing tips on a z shaft.

I do a lot of tips on various cues I keep around the house that others use when they come over to play pool...but with my Predator shafts....I let Seyberts tip them....I am too scared I'll damage the ferrule some way...I honestly think you need a lathe to really do it right...and Seyberts doesn't charge that much. My opinion, most times it's not worth that much. At least that's what Dags sister in law always said.. 8) mike

I would have to agree with you here. Unless you are experienced at replacing tips, let a pro do it! A Predator Z-Shaft costs a bit more than a cheap house cue or the like. I would suggest practicing first on something inexpensive. If you do not know someone who does them local, and KNOW how good their work is, send it to Seyberts.

To many times I have seen someone give their cue to a local guy, not knowing the quality of his work, only to get their equipment returned mangled. Seyberts will do the job right and the cost is negligible.

I phoned around to get some prices and to see if they had ever done tip replacement for Predator Z-Shaft. In my area there are two Predator Dealers.

One of them I could not reach because the guy that does them was out of town.I'll call him tomorow.

The other one, I asked if he had done Predator Z-Shafts before and after some hesitation he told me he had never heard of Z-Shafts....

Now, the Predator dealers around here are realy bars, so it's not them per say that do the tip replacements, it's some guy in his baseman that does it.

Exactly the type to be weary of. Make sure you know the guy who is doing the work, or have at least seen some of his work in the past. If not first hand, ask people you TRUST around your local pool hall, and preferably those who have high standards when it comes to their cues.

You're gambling otherwise...

I'd go with Audio here....if you are going to pay this kind of money for a shaft....don't go slack on the maintenance 8) Same as buying a Jag and washing it with dish washing detergent  mike

I agree with you all.

It's just that I made many phone calls and no-one impressed me. Shipping to Seyberts is something I would prefer not to do. I am in Canada (Quebec) and Shipping would cost to much plus the fact that I would loose my cue for about 1-2 weeks.

I am still trying to find someone locally.... But I figure that if I cannot find someone I can trust, I prefer do it myself.
