It's a game based on balls made out of so many racks. I was wondering of anyone knew the rules of it or where I can find a copy of them online since google came up with nothing about it. It's a really fantastic way of finding out just how well you are playing. Thanks for the help

There is a game called 99 and I don't know if that is what you are talking about but it is played like this.

Rack for nine ball.

After the break take ball in hand and shoot the balls off (until you miss) hitting the lowest numbered ball first.

Scoring: One point for each ball pocketed and two additional points if one or more balls were made on the break.

After a miss or running all the balls a new rack is started. The game is a total of 9 racks with a possible 11 points per rack.

Say you play a game of 99 every other day and track your scores for a month you can then calculate a mean score. A score that has as many games above as well as below it. Now if you continue this every month after a while you will be able to see if your game is stagnant, improving or, heaven forbid, getting worse.

If you are going to rely on this as measure of how your game is going you do have to do this often enough so that it does have some validity.

It's kinda like that but you rack for 8-ball and shoot 10 for 1 point and the last five in rotation for 2 points a ball.

It was "invented" by Pool & Billiards magazine and you can read about it on their website.
