Ok i know how to do english and where to fix for the deflection of aim. But sometimes when i go to use left english and fix my aim so i hit the ball a hair thicker cuz its going to move to the left, the cueball moves to the opposite side of the english (wich is called squirt).

I know these 2 kinds of englishs but, when the fuck do i know when one is gona happen. Is squirt happening because im using a "PUNCH" kinda stroke where i go back slow but when coming back forward u kinda punch it but still follow threw when first contact with cueball (this kinda stroke is for draw, and stun shots and with breaking)

And is the english where i use left english the ball will move left the follow threw smooth stroke? where i go back slow but accelerate threw or keep a slow pace (really hard to explain diff types of strokes online.)

Sometimes i use a nice slow smooth stroke with say left english but the ball will move to the right, and i keep my cue as level as possible at all times unless doing a masse. Im so damn cunfused i cant perdict wich way it is gona go when :( Its easy when ball is really close cuz u dont really need to change the line of aim cuz it doesnt take affect so soon. If some1 could help me would be nice :)

http://www.azbilliards.com/rogerlong/skillschool15.cfm thats something i recently read about squirt. But how do u know when its gona happen when ive been always tolled that if u use the side of english (right or left) it will go in that direction a bit cuz its like a minny masse, cuz the cue is never level............AAAAAAH im going nuts :D thanks!

BTW i use a 3k6 Predator and although 314 great shaft it doesnt take all deflection away.

Play like the pros, don't use side spin, just here and there for fine tuning to get the shape right. Use speed to get where you want to, not spin
Playing like this will keep you out of trouble

I definiitely agree. Try to stick to hitting on the vertical axis of the CB. A host of variables come in to play that you must know how to adjust for, when using side.

If im not mistaken pros use sidespin more then anything. Also my post here was to get help on how to understand why these 2 diff deflections happen. Guess im trying to figure out is it because cue isnt level enuff, punched it to hard, not soft enuff not enuff distance between balls. These are just examples of why these kinds of deflections occure just trying to get a better understanding why they happen, when im thinking "oh if i put left on this shot ball will move left cuz its a mini type masse" but then the ball moves to the right instead. hard to explain what i mean.

You are deinitely mistaken in what pro's use the most. Side spin as well as draw can be very unpredictable, and therefore it's use, high skill level players try to stay away from.

That is right. Pros are normally quite adept and using english (side) and draw very well but they only do that when absolutely necessary. They have the kind of experience to be able to get position without resorting to more difficult techniques which may increase their chances to miss a shot.

Even with a perfectly level cue the use of side spin will produce a slight masse if the cue ball is also struck above center. While I try to avoid the use of side I just cringe when I have to combine side with follow. As for learning how to adjust their are three things you can try. 1) Practice. 2) Practice. 3) And more practice.

I agree. On full length cuts, where I have to use side, because it is a thin cut, I do notice the cue ball move, but I do not see it squirt of the cue.

But the best method is to use top/center/bottom unless you HAVE to use side. The pros get position by leaving themselves 10-15 degrees off center from the object ball so they can get shape from top or bottom.

I think what you are trying to figure out is why the ball behaves differently under different circumstances. I can tell you that some of the variables that will affect cue ball deflection and how the object ball reacts at contact include the speed of the shot, condition of the table, temperature, crap on the cue ball or object ball, weight of the cue ball compared to the object ball (on coin op tables), the distance the balls are apart, the follow-through, tip hardness, shaft flex... the list goes on and on. That's why pros avoid side spin whenever possible, and why the only way to know how to adjust for various shots is to practice.

The reason why your having trouble understanding is because you don't stoke the ball the same way everytime. if you put left english on the CB the ball will have a tendency to start a little right of the target line and depending on how hard or soft your stroke was the ball will effectively masse slightly to the left. Point is it all depends on how hard you stoke the cue ball. The harder you stroke the ball the more curve both ways you will have. Also you have to make sure to STROKE not hit the cue I try to have a nice flowing stroke back and threw the same speed the whole time. I do accelerate when i need speed but the tempo never changes (or at least thats the goal  ) that has a lot do with how much spin is applied to the CB.

Bottom line is a lot of side spin is impossible to master anyone, Some have a better idea then others but it is mostly a guess whats going to happen. And i agree also with the room stick to the middle of the ball it will win you more games.
