I just increased the tip radius on my Triangle tip from less than a dime to just under a nickel. Accuracy has improved but at a slight expense of draw. The cue ball draws less yet I shoot straighter with less squirt. Oh well, I suppose that there are tradeoffs.

I've always felt better with a nickel radius tip. Once you get used to it, you'll be able to draw the CB to your heart's content.

ive never had a problem with a nickel radius personally but most of my friends are partial to dime sizes, perhaps i should start a poll asking what the fave is lol.

dime gets you more spin and less deflection but harder to control. If you are more of a centerball player use nickel but if more or a spin player use
dime

Start with a nickel radius. That's what I did, and I didn't like it at all.

Then you can always shape to a dime, whereas starting with a dime and going to a nickel is harder.

So I shaped mine down to a dime and it shoots much better now.

In McCumber's book PLAYING OFF THE RAIL and in a recent issue of INSIDE POOL magazine, two players expressed a preference for a flat tip: Keith McCready and Kim Davenport, respectively. Not to mention me, the great Kokopuffs.
