Heyas!

I had an opportunity to go play pool w/ some friends out of town...Parma Michigan. My pals and I had a lil discussion about who breaks first and so forth. My pals say winner breaks, and I say the challenger breaks. Up in Port Huron, MI area...the challenger breaks. I'm curious as to how you all handle this situation when ya're a "guest" in their town/bar and how to resolve the disagreement. (I was the winner and I broke every single games we played, I was respecting their "local rules"....hell yeah I was runnin the table all night!! )

Would like to hear your stories related to this subject...and in a day or two...I'll share one of mine that happened in Port Huron hehehe NEVER AGAIN!! 8O

I'd say toss coin? That would do it. :)

Where I live it's winner breaks most places. In general I try to abide by "house" rules when I'm visiting a new place. I also make sure that I know what the rules are for most common situations before starting the game. These two practices help me make new friends of former strangers. They also reduce the risk that those same strangers will decide to demonstrate the other use for a pool cue on my head!:D

Deb......reality says the players in the game should decide not the local rules UNLESS it is some sort of a sanctioned event. The break is a distinct advantage to any good player who can run out consistently AND it is a disadvantage to a poorer player who can only run a couple of balls.

LOCAL RULES are just that local. If you are playing for serious money or serious reasons, the players involved should make the decision about how the break is handled......winner breaks, loser breaks, or alternating breaks.

Hey......I'll even take the 6, 7 and 8 and the break!
