Hi...
I am thinking about purchasing a cue and have pretty much decided on a McDermott. Has anyone tried their Hustler cue? Its around 200 bucks but I was wondering if the fact that it doesn't have any fancy inlays or artwork or anything, the trade off would be that you get a better quality cue (that doesn't look as pretty.) This is opposed to buying a McDermott that is wrapped/has some artwork or color, etc...something like the bat M1-2B or something around 50-70 dollars more. Can I assume this is true?

Basically, I want to buy a McDermott but I am more concerned about the quality than looks. If it comes down to buying the same piece of wood but without the inlays of pearl and the designs that would be fine. 8)

A lot of production cue manufacturers produce quality cues at all price levels. McDermott included.. For the most part whether you buy a 200 dollar cue or a 1500 dollar cue, they will play the same, and be quality cues. However, there are exceptions to every rule. But you typically are paying for advanced artwork and inlays, not quality of play.

thats what ive always heard too. The 200 dollar cue is the same as the 1500 but the design is what makes it 1300 dollars more. but the 1500 dollar cue may have a few qualitys the 200 basic cue might not. Such as an ivory tip or some other material that could make it play slightly better but they would all be things that in the grand scheme of things dont matter a whole lot if your looking at performance.
