I've been looking all over the place for the Aramith Pro Cup cue ball (ie the one w/ the 6 red dots on it).

Anyone have any idea where I can get one?

(Yes, I know there's no difference in playability, I'm just a spoiled child and want one b/c I saw it on TV.) :D :) :( :o 8O :? 8)

Mueller has them listed in their catalog on page 81. $13.95 for one: if you buy 3 or more they are $9.95 each.

I am planing on buying 3 and using the other 2 as practice object balls. The dots can then be used to set up the aiming points and you can also see the transfer of english.

Good idea. I want one to see what better players are doing with the cue. You can't always tell what kind of spin they are applying unless you are in the right position relative to their shot...of course the action off rails and the hit tells you something...but not always the whole story.

I tried to order these and Mueller said they are out and the manufacturer has discontinued them.

WTF? Discontinued them? They are getting tons of notoriety in the tournaments ESPN televises (US Open and Trick Shot Magic).

I just paid $38.95 to get one. Last one the guy had. Doesn't know when he'll be able to get more. I don't understand the potential discontinuation either, this is a popular item.

Sonnic,

My take exactly...but I had to pay the low supply price "now." Either way, that cueball rocks. It shows a LOT!

it does seem strange that aramith would discontinue something like that. i'd love to have one myself (especially b/c its on TV, lol). maybe if people started a writing campaign, they'd change their mind. i have a couple of ? for rick. i saw your aramith aim by numbers package. i found it interesting, could you tell me a little more about it & would you recommend it (considering you're certified by the bca & all)? also, aramith green dot bar box balls, how well do they work (anyone ever use one?)? thanks alot for your time.

Muellers now sells a set of Aramith balls which include the Pro Cup Cue Ball, unfortunately, you have to buy the whole set just for the cue ball.

I'm tempted, but it seems a bit out of control.

Rick,

Thanks, but I already have set of Aramith Super Pros, and despite my urge to frivolously spend, even I can't bring myself to buy a whole other set just for a cool looking cue ball.

I'd buy a couple of the cue ball if they're available seperately.

I also put in an order for the 6 dotted cue ball and was told they are having trouble with the company that supplies them. The price in the Mullers book was 13.95 and now I am told they will be 38 or so dollars. The billards store near me said they could get them at that price and I said no thanks.

02-15-2005, 02:19 PM
I see them on EBAY for around that price...although, if you can believe it, there are lots of fakes out there.

Also, on another message board someone posted that Aramith emailed them back that they would be selling individual balls starting in early '05.

Hard to believe that Aramith would sell them for so much given that their best cue ball is so much less.

Not often does this happen, but we just got in 24 of the balls in finally. (after over a year of waiting) At any rate, I have them up here at $32.95 on this page

Yes, but still.....$32 is better than $160 for a set with that cue ball lol.

skor

$160/15balls = $10.66 per ball
paying up to $20 for a single ball might make sence but over $30 doesn't not for something that it's just a hype, you can see the spin on a regular ball when you're playing or if you play 9ball you can use any of the stripes ball for a cue ball and you'll see the spin just as well

I don't call someone who wants it a fool but I will call someone who pays $33 for it a sucker.

Let's say that you want a certain car, you don't realy need it since the car that you own serves you great but you want the other car so bad that you are willing to pay more then it's worth, this will make you a fool and a sucker, If you find a great deal on that car that is something else.
If you want this cue ball and you can find it with a reasonable price then go for it.

Actually, we have spent the last year being asked when we were going to get the balls in.

I agree, not my cup of tea, but we have been asked about the balls hundreds of times. (no exageration)

If I told you how much we spend for the balls, you would also think we were nuts...

I really should be charging more for them, but I just could not see it. So, I got them in as a sort of customer service. If you want them, here they are... If not, well, they are still here if you change your mind.

skor

Got my Pro Cup Cue Ball, and no playing with it will not lead to global peace, but, but it's a lot better to play with than an average cue ball.

I've been playing for about a year and a half, and though am getting better, I still don't have very good control of all of my shots and what this cue ball allows is to see the weird spins that happen and their resultant impact on shots.

And yes, I know you can play with a stripped ball to achieve the same effect, but hey, who want to play with a stipped ball.

It's well worth it.

As yet I haven’t ordered a TV Pro Cup cue ball, but I probably will order one soon. I use an Elephant practice cue ball for solo practing, and it’s very effective in fine tuning my stroke, but during a game you can’t very well reposition the CB to get the stripe vertical. When I do order one it will be from Seybert’s even though they are available from other sources for $29.95. Why? Because Rick, Deb, and the rest of the staff at Seybert’s provide good service and display a high level of integrity. Does paying the extra 10% make me a sucker?

If someone was offended by my post then I would like to apologize to you, I did not mean to offend you or anyone else.

skor - - I am far from offended by your post, but your comment about cars really hit home for me. I have an ‘02 BMW Z3 roadster just for fun, an ‘04 MINI Cooper JCW/MCS just for fun, and an ‘05 Scion xB for daily driving. When I feel the need for more comfort my wife’s ‘05 Lexus (employer supplied) serves the purpose. I even paid 7% over MSRP for the MINI to be able to drive it off of the lot and avoid the several month waiting list. Does this make me a sucker?

Cues and shafts: My collection ranges from a wood-to-wood Predator sneaky pete, a Predator P2, Predator LE-8 and LE-9 (which live in a leather Predator case), a custom cue from Bob Dzuricky, another from Dan Trogon, and a really nice one from Samsara. Shafts include 314, Z, Tiger, Annie O, Cowboy Bob (Dan Trogdon), a really pretty purpleheart shaft from Dan Trogdon, and a 314 & Z with custom ring work by David Doucette of Samsara. None of these cues/shafts make me a better shooter, but they do put a smile on my face. Does this make me a sucker?

Cases: One from Talisman, two made by Dan Whitten, and one made by Jack Justis. None of these “high end” cases protect my cues/shafts any better than my vinyl covered cheapie that cost about $30. Does this make me a sucker?

Table: recently traded my perfectly good 8’ table for a 9’ Olhausen table. Does it play better than the old table? Probably a little, but the larger size certainly is more challenging. Does this make me a sucker?

None of these cues/shafts/cases ever leave my house except the sneaky pete with a non-logo shaft by Dan Trogdon, and they travel in the cheapie vinyl case. All of the other cues and shafts get a great deal of playing at home. Does this make me a sucker?

You and others may think that I am a fool and a sucker. In my seventy years of taking up space on this planet I’ve developed my own personal philosophy about money. I spent 20 years in the military, which isn’t famous for it’s high pay rates, and when I was single I would weigh a prospective purchase against how many six-packs of beer I could buy for the same price. This made the decision to buy or not to buy pretty easy. As I accumulated responsibilities and gray hairs in my beard my methods changed, but my philosophy remained the same. Now I ask myself, what will my wife or two teenage sons do without if I make this purchase?

Over a year’s time the $33 for the AramithTV Pro Cup cue ball with cost you about 9¢ a day! What will you have to do without to make this purchase?

I just saw them at a local billiards store with a $19.95 price tag. From the way Sid talked about what he paid for them this may have been a mistake (on the store's part not mine, I looked at it twice ;) ) but it wouldn't hurt to call around or check out the local stores if you think $33 is too steep.

The polka dot cue ball arrived today. My first impression is that the Aramith Pro Cup CB is the best training ball available for visualizing CB spin. The Elephant practice CB with its black stripe is excellent for practicing, but isn’t suited for actual playing because it must be placed with the black line vertical before each shot. With the measel ball you can see rotation (both wanted and unwanted) without regard for the ball’s initial position, so it’s a good choice for improving your game while actually playing.

Am I a fool for spending $33 for this ball? I don’t think so!
