Now in a perfect world i would have the 300 bucks to buy the New Predator bk cue and get an 8 ball break every time. but as we all know life isn't perfect, so I am looking for a break cue...

the big question is which brand?

Should i buy a cheaper cue and putting a hard tip on it (like a players, cuetec or 5280) and in that case which joint?

Or should I get a Jump/break cue?

What is the best value for my money?

Like i said i would love to get the predator bk cue but just not in the buget however a $50 players cue could be arranged...

Your input please,
Sonnic

A lot of people use the cheapest cue they can find that is light, solid, and has a relatively hard tip. Any decent two-piece cue would work. I know a lot of people that use a cheap sneaky pete. I'd try a few cues until you know what weight you want, and how it's balanced. Don't change the tip until you see how you like the hit -- too hard a tip can cause miscues if you're not used to it. I like a tip with some grip to it, like a Talisman Medium, especially if you're using a second-ball break or another softer break.

as dags said This topic has been addressed in other threads, so all i want to add is this:
put those $50 on the side and keep adding to it when you'll have some extra cash, I belive that in less then 6 months you'll have $300 to get a good break cue, don't go cheap on the most important shot of the game, till then use a house cue, it will get the job done just as good as a $50 cue.

Get the BK. Nothing compares.

But if you cannot afford it, go with a decent ($100-$200) cue and slap a hard tip on it.

Try some cues before deciding. I use a Lucasi jump/break because it's useful for me to have the short handle for some shots that I need to shoot in league, but jumps are illegal, so I don't care about the "jumpability" of the cue. With a Talisman Med. tip, using a second ball break with low left english, I pocket two to three balls on average, and make the 8 on the break around 1 out of every 10 or 15 breaks. Unfortunately, it's only happened in league once this year (so far).
