hi,
im somewhat new to the game and i know this may be a stupid question, but i was wondering: is the shaft the only thing affected(and tip) by a break? because i have a spare shaft for my lucasi(predator 314) and it would be more convenient to bring the lucasi shaft and break with it as opposed to my old players cue(which i currently break with) this way i only have one cue to carry with easily interchangeable shafts. didnt want to harm the life of the new cue so thought i might ask. any help would be much appreciated. thanks.

There are some design components that go into a good break cue butt also, but the shaft is probably more important. If the shaft responds to the extra speed hit and doesn't deflect all over the place if you miss center ball, use it...

Break with whatever breaks the best. If switching shafts doesn't mess up your concentration and rhythm that is fine although your opponents might find it annoying.

As I have recently found out, switching out your shafts can sometimes slow down your game and let you think about your strategy. it is usually a goodidea to ask your opponenet if he is going to try and take the game because you unscrewed your playing cue.
