I live in Milwaukee WI and i just a few days ago went to a local pool supply store the USE TO carry McDermott cues, the sales guy said that McDermott has a manufactering plant a few miles from the store that they are shutting down. Also besides that he said they have been getting multiple complaints of the newer Mcdermott cues BREAKING!!! and to make it worse McDermott inc. isn't doing anything about it (not honoring there warrenty's. I was actually glad to hear this though cause last year i was buying a new cue and ended up with a Viking witch the guy told me was now there top of the line cue at that store of course. has anyone heard of this happening anywhere else? the store was called Gamemaster in milwuakee on Hwy 36.

Interesting to hear. I wonder how much of that is fact and haw much of it is an exaggeration in order to try and promote the products he does handle? My personal experience with McDermott and Viking are that they are both quality products with a lot of value for the money. Perhaps the folks here at Seybert's will comment on this. I assume they move a lot of McDermott product.

dats pretty interesting... and it reminds me of meucci. i've heard a lot of stuff regarding the problems that meucci are going thru, and that the quality of their production has suffered. anyone with some inside info on this?

If the folks at Gamemaster did indeed say that, then they either where trying to sell you a competitors cue or had some bad information.

Some facts:

There is a single 75,000 sq foot production plant in Menomonee Falls, WI (just outside of Milwaukee, WI)

We have a nice healthy backlog of cues right now. (i.e. working at capacity)

We recently introduced a new warranty, which makes the Lifetime Warranty we've had since the early 90's even better.

Below were our sponsorships (just the major ones, we had 26 total in all) for 2003

Arena Sponsor of the BCA Open 9-Ball Championships
Gold Sponsor of the BCA National 8-Ball Championships
Platinum Sponsor of the BCA Junior National 9 Ball Championships
Sponsor of the VNEA International Championships
Major Sponsor of the VNEA International Junior Championships

We also partnered with a magazine called "The Break" to form the "McDERMOTT NORTHWEST 8 & 9 BALL TOUR (MNWT)" which is going on right now.

We're starting 2004 off with taking the next step with the BCA in becoming the "Official Cue of the 2004 BCA Open 9-Ball Championships."

In 2003 we introduced 25 new designs (2003 Series) not including the Harley-Davidson® 100th Anniversary Cue and the Corvette® 50th Anniversary cue.

In 2004, we've started up a new "Cue of the Month" program which you all will be reading about soon. We also will be coming out with a new Harley-Davidson® inlayed cue Feb 1st. (Sid, remind me to get you that image)

I figured id hear a response like that. I have several friends who have mcDermott cues and have never had a problem. I walked into the store thinking i would get to see the new series of McDermott cues and to my surprise the sales guy had that story. I guess that the guy like Steve said was uninformed and giving me bad info or was tring to sell another brand of cue. I believe Mcdermott is STILL a great company but i still wonder WHY did gamemaster discontinue McDermott products? It doesn't make sense to me...

If I were McDermott I wouldn't want a company like that representing my product. There is an old addage about 1 unhappy customer offsetting 50 happy ones. They probably had one thing happen that they didn't like and decided to stop selling them and try to hurt their reputation.
