I'm thinking about buying a Porper Jam Up rack. Anyone used one?
I definatly dont want a Sardo, but these Porper Jam up racks look nice and they come with a case for under a $100.

They certainly look more durable then the Sardo as well.

Do they give a good tight rack everytime?

Thanks

Thought I would report back. The Porper Jam Up rack works great. It took a little getting use to but I like it. It does indeed give a nice tight rack 99.5% of the time. Once in a while I might see one ball seperate a tiny bit from the others, just simply put the rack back over it and press down and lift up. The key to making this rack work right is pressing down as you lift the bars up.

Also I highly recommend sanding the bottom and bottom edges. Its very rough and could easily snag the table cloth the way they send it out stock. One would think they would take an extra 5 minutes and sand these racks down to get rid of the rought jagged eges of the wood.

I dont know why they stopped selling them on Seyberts, or I would recommend buying from Seyberts as they do have great prices and great customer support. (EDIT) .... The Jam Up rack does both 8 ball and 9 ball racks. 9 ball racks are done simply by adding 2 spring loaded pieces of fiberglass to it, very simple setup.

I give it a 9/10. I would have given it a 10 had it not been for the sanding needed to make it smooth and Simonis cloth friendly :)

We are a huge stocking dealer for all of our products. The reason we don't stock them is availability from the manu. I have tried many times to get these in and no luck, we have had them on the site 3 or 4 times. I will call today and try to get them in if they have them.

I've got a Jam Up Rack and the design behind the idea is quite good. I find this to be a great rack, but it falls prey to the same issues that a Sardo would (I have one of these too) in a public pool hall...the cloth gets dinged by so many people trying to set the headball, that finding a good spot to set the balls is difficult.

Either is a great rack. I prefer the Sardo because it's simpler to use. You just roll the balls in from the back. With the Jamup, you have to rack from the outside in to get them all in. Takes just a tad getting used to.

I load my balls from the top with the Jam Up rack. Usually I put the first 6 front balls in, then the bottom 2 corners, then just load the rest in the middle and no need to lift the sides to load the rack :) Putting those 2 bottom corner balls in is the key to not having to lift the rack to side load it.
