View Full Version : Z shaft with a closed bridge
I use a closed bridge and have a pretty long stroke. I tend to hit the ball pretty hard. This is mainly old habit from growing up with a crappy old table that was incredibly slow compared to any other table I have played on.
I currently use a 3K cue with a 314 shaft, and was considering buying a Z shaft for it. Do you think the more severe taper of the Z with have any negative effects on my game considering my style of bridge and stroke? Does anyone have a Z shaft and use a closed bridge that could comment on this?
Thanks a lot.
any house cue that you ever played with has a taper like that and so do snooker cues (they are very similar to the z shaft), if you ever played with one.
when using a closed bridge it should be a bit loose so I don't find the taper making that much of a difference it's something you get used too in no time.
now about you stroke, STOP THAT :) if you'll follow trough with the right speed you'll get better results and will improve your game
Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I try not to hit it hard too much but if I'm not playing too seriously it still comes up.
When I'm screwing around just knocking balls around I stand practically straight up with my hand straight down on the table, make a huge stroke and pound those long cuts into the pockets and hardly ever miss. It's just your basic pendulum stroke, only with 5 feet of cue travel, lol.

I think that the taper isn't that strong, and that the tip diameter doesn't really affect things too much.
It really makes the game easier to play since your tip placement is so much closer to the center of the ball.
