I have always noticed that on TV the players expessially women there hit is so solid it sounds like they hit with no tip. Its very woody sounding like hitting with a very hard tip. In my expereance you get less cue ball control with a hard tip because it does not grip the ball well.
Just wanted to bring up another conversation. Please feel free to comment on this subject :!:

I have played with hard tips, and I have to say they are great. They may get a little less grip on the ball for extreme english shots, but they are way more consistent than soft tip with the english that they do give you. Of my two cues one has a Talisman H and the other a Talisman M and the H draws even better than the M and requires almost no attention as far as scuffing goes. I think the pros use the hard tips because when you have to make the shot to get paid you have to know exactly how your cue is going to shoot.

I've always heard that the softer the tip the more spin (draw) you can apply to the cue ball... I learn something everyday.

I moved to med-hard tips - after I read (billards Mag)
that pros - mainly use hard /med hard.
(and also because I like the solid hit of the Predator BK)

I am very happy with the move .
I do believe - as mention on prior post - that
it improves accuracy (since most likely) tip contact on cue
is more consistant between shots.

I presently use med hard talisman tip
(my best feel at this time),
I tried med/hard morri

( I hear a lot of great comments about, the Med morri)
(at some point I will try it - tehy tell me that - it is good
(not to soft of a hit )

I tried soft, medium, and hard. Yes more English with a softer tip.

Moori III tips break this rule though. I've tried Moori S, M, and Q(Hard).

All three seem to grip the ball just as well!

I use a Moori III Q (dime shape) for my playing cue, a Tiger Break/Jump (quarter shape) for my breaking stick, and a Bunjee tip (dime shape) for my jump stick.

Don't confuse putting spin on a ball with controlling the ball. While you can get a little more spin without miscuing with a soft tip, in game situations (with the exception of the masse) a hard tip should give all the spin needed.

When trying to put so much juice on the cue ball that you need to strike the cue ball so far off center that miscuing is a concern you are no longer controlling the cue ball but rather hoping it ends up where you want.

I agree with Dags im currently using a Med Moori and personally my old Le pro was much more consistant. But it could be though that i havent played with the tip enough to full compress it .

You must have got one of the very few decent LePro's... 1 out of every 30 or so are any good...

I like the firmer Le Pros, I dislike the soft ones.

I have not gotten a good LePro yet, quit trying...I put Moori III Med on everything right away. Very consistent and hold shape extremely well.

Not all pros play with hard tips. Fransisco plays with an Elkmaster 8O , so I'm told anyways. I play with a Talisman med. on my predator shafts,
Talisman hard tips on solid shafts. I tried a Tiger hard tip once. I found thar they are alot harder than a Talisman hard, they've worked great on my break stick.

I have heard that Archer uses stock LePros, not sure of the validity of that though.
