KEY PLAYERS CONFIRMEDThorsten Hohmann A favorite of fans around the world, Thorsten quickly built great friendships with the world’s top players while earning respect for his play. Sponsored by Universal Cues, he first made a name for himself by winning the WPA World Nine-ball Championship in 2003. Gerda Hofstatter Austrian-born Gerda Hofstatter learned about pocket billiards as a teen in her hometown. After competing with a local team, she won her first Austrian National Championship in 1987. Two years later she was the first Austrian to win a Gold Medal in the European Championship. Gerda moved to the United States in the early 1990s and has continued to make history in the sport. Her career wins include a World Championship, 10 European championships, 17 Austrian national championships, and a U.S. national championship in addition to numerous other titles, making her one of the sport’s most celebrated players. |  |
Rodney Morris One of the most colorful and charismatic players in the world, Rodney “The Rocket” Morris is also one of billiard’s brightest stars. His famous one-liners, paired with his fast, rhythmic play, have made him a fan favorite around the world. Rodney’s effervescent attitude is only matched by his skills at the table. “The Rocket” was the 1996 US Open 9-Ball Champion, then returned from a four-year absence from the game to win the Reno Open in 2001. His 2007 wins include the SE Open 9-Ball Tour Stop and Seminole Florida Pro Tour Steve Mizerak Championship. Tony Robles Before he was much taller than a cue stick, Tony Robles knew that he wanted to play pool, and play it well. Accompanying his dad to the local pool hall in Brooklyn, Tony was 13 years old when he was first introduced to the world of billiards. At age twenty-one, he turned pro. Although not so silent, the “silent assassin” has quickly ascended the ranks of the world's elite players. He is currently ranked #6 by Pool and Billiards Magazine, and #9 by Billiard's Digest, and has his sights set on winning the world championship. Among Tony’s career highlights was a run of 113 balls during the 1992 Straight Ball Championship held at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City. His most recent wins include the 2007 N.J. Ralf Souquet At the age of six, Ralf Souquet started playing billiards in the pub owned by his parents. At the age of 14, he won his first German Championship title and since 1981 has wracked up an impressive 250 tournament titles, including 41 German Championship titles and 34 European Championship titles. European Pocket Billiard News voted him “European Player of the Year in 1989. His 2006 accomplishments secured him the 3rd position on the player money list according to AZBilliards.com. In 2008, Ralf is living up to his top-ranked status with first place wins including the Derby City Classic 9-Ball (Kentucky), Paris Open 9-Ball (France), and Gema 9-Ball Open (Greece). |  |
Charlie Williams Promoter, leader, and one of the world’s elite pro players, Charlie Williams has been hailed by Inside Pool Magazine ad “Pool’s Renaissance Man” and is known as “The Korean Dragon.” He began his pool career at age 12 and within one year became a known as a prodigy, going on to finish fourth at the 1990 2nd Annual BCA Junior Nationals. By mid-2003 he won a UPA Pro Tour title at the Capitol City Classic, elevating his ranking to #1 on the pro tour. Charlie formed the UPA in 2001, which soon became the official US Men’s Pro Tour. He promoted his first event, The Central Florida Open, which became a smash hit with fans and players and eventually led to the formation of his company, Dragon Promotions.
